Coleen Rooney’s ‘fake’ Instagram posts she used to ‘expose Rebekah Vardy as serial leaker’

THESE are Coleen Rooney's "fake" Instagram posts that she used to expose Rebekah Vardy as the alleged serial leaker.

Coleen had long suspected that one of her pals was telling journalists about her and had become determined to find out who it was.

Images have been released for the first time today in her High Court battle against Rebekah to show the far Coleen went to confirm her fears.

One picture shows an airline seat as Coleen posts about "gender selection".

Another shows a selfie of Wayne Rooney's wife as she ponders a future TV career.

A third picture shows a bottle of Cloudy Bay white wine and a scrunched face emoji as Coleen writes about the nightmare of a flooded basement.

All three stories appeared in the media and led to Coleen announcing on social media that the source of them appearing was Rebekah Vardy's account.

The details of the lengths Coleen went to were laid out in a 55-page court document in which she defends herself in her ongoing court battle.

It comes as Coleen "doesn't know who to trust" after Rebekah "repeatedly" leaked stories about her, explosive new court documents reveal today.

The 34-year-old WAG has sensationally accused Rebekah, 38, of being a "serial leaker" as the pair are due to go head-to-head in a High Court battle.

In legal papers filed at the High Court today, Coleen alleges Rebekah has a "habitual practice of providing private information".

The bombshell documents blast: "The unauthorised disclosure of private material from the Defendant’s Private Instagram Account was deeply distressing to the Defendant. The Defendant was left not knowing who to trust."

Rebekah - wife of Leicester City star Jamie Vardy - filed a libel action against Coleen after Coleen set up a “sting” on her private Instagram account.

This week The Sun revealed Coleen wanted to avoid going to court and her lawyer confirmed she had been keen to settle, saying: "She remains surprised and disappointed at Mrs Vardy's decision to initiate these proceedings and to continue to pursue these matters through the courts."

But after her legal team filed the 55-page document it seems the explosive showdown sparked by the infamous Wagatha Christie row will go ahead.

Coleen's lawyers have accused "publicity-seeking" Rebekah of leaking stories to raise her own profile.

Her solicitor said: "The Defendant [Rooney] will contend that the Claimant acted in this way for the purposes of promoting herself and/or financially exploiting her public profile, particularly as the partner of the well known footballer, Jamie Vardy."

What do the legal documents say?

  • Coleen claims she doesn't know "who to trust" after being "consistently and repeatedly betrayed" by Rebekah.
  • She did not contact Rebekah before naming her as the leak, with the WAG calling Coleen afterwards.
  • Coleen's legal team denies Rebekah has been made a "scapegoat" for other stories, adding she was "entirely reasonable and correct" in her public claim.
  • Rebekah encouraged the fallout of the Instagram post by referencing it in a tweet about her husband.
  • Coleen is not responsible for the trolling Rebekah received, with the documents saying "such abuse was not foreseeable".
  • Rebekah is accused of previous "publicity seeking behaviour" at Euro 2016 by deliberately sitting behind Coleen.

The court documents show Coleen stands by the accusations made on social media that Rebekah leaked stories about her, with the 34-year-old readying for a showdown.

The document says: "The Claimant sometimes provided this directly, sometimes anonymously (under the pseudonym, 'the Secret Wag', a regular gossip column in The Sun for which she was the source, despite her denying this) and sometimes through third parties who were acting as approved or condoned by her."

All the stories which were subsequently printed in The Sun were put to Coleen’s reps for comment prior to publication.

'WANT TO CLEAR MY NAME'

The documents also said: "As is her habitual practice and established history, the Claimant has also directly disclosed private information about others with whom she is friendly or associated.

"As such, the Claimant consistently and repeatedly betrayed the Defendant’s trust over several years."

The papers hit back at Rebekah's complaint that Coleen's post naming her as the secret source saw searches on her name topple searches about Brexit.

They said: "It is not a helpful comparator, nor a useful means by which to assess serious harm.

"The Claimant has previously exceeded interest in Brexit on Google Trends on several occasions… Indeed, for a time on Google Trends, around the same time as the Post, interest in the breakfast cereal Corn Flakes exceeded that in Brexit."

It comes days after Rebekah vowed to clear her name, telling Good Morning Britain: "We tried to sort things out amicably but it didn't work. I understand people think it's ridiculous but what was I meant to do?

"I need to clear my name, I want to clear my name. I will do whatever it takes, and I hope it's going to be resolved soon."

A spokesman for Coleen Rooney said of the document: "Coleen has always been confident of her position, although she takes no pleasure in now having to set out in public court documents the reasons why.

"It remains a matter of deep regret to her that Rebekah seems determined to persist with court action despite Coleen's offers of private mediation. Coleen believes the money being spent could be put to much better use in these times."

Last October, mum-of-four Coleen claimed in a bombshell social media post how one of her friends was leaking stories about her.

She wrote: “After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be for various reasons, I had a suspicion.”

Coleen claimed she posted a string of false stories via her Instagram account with restricted access to see if they appeared in the media, which they did.

She then said the fake stories had only been viewed by one person, and ended dramatically "it’s . . . Rebekah Vardy’s account", which Rebekah has denied.

Coleen's defence papers claim she isn't responsible for the online attention Rebekah got in the aftermath of the alleged unmasking, saying "such abuse was not foreseeable".

They add her Instagram claims were "a legitimate matter of public interest", and necessary as the leaks continued "despite previous warnings".

Her legal team also argues Rebekah encouraged the publicity from the post by referring to it in a tweet which said "it’s...... Jamie Vardy #9", and was liked more than 66,000 times and retweeted more than 10,000 times.

They conclude by stating Coleen has been left not knowing "who to trust", and that she believed she was "entirely reasonable and correct" to name Rebekah.

Becky, who was heavily pregnant at the time, denied the allegations and claimed several people had access to her account.

Her lawyers are currently preparing for a bombshell hearing later this year at the High Court.
