Hollyoaks legend Jeremy Edwards returns as Kurt Benson for 25th anniversary – 20 years after he died in jetski accident
JEREMY Edwards is returning to Hollyoaks after being killed off 21 years ago.
Kurt Benson is making his return, in the flesh, despite his character being killed off-screen in a jet ski accident in 1999.
His return to Chester is shown in a new trailer for the show which is celebrating it’s 25th year on air.
Jeremy said: "Hollyoaks means everything to me, because it was my first proper job, it was the beginning of a brand new exciting show.
"There were only seven of us and it was a real seminal moment in my life where everything changed and I’m very, very glad for it.
"I couldn’t be prouder of the show and where it’s come."
The actor, who was once engaged to Rachel Stevens, was in the first-ever episode of the soap alongside best friend Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard).
Jeremy, 49, did briefly return to the Chester show in 2013 as a hallucination protecting Tony’s son during Hollyoaks later.
He has remained close friends with Nick since their early days together and claims "it's a bond that will never be broken".
His resurrection follows Nico Blake’s (Persephone Swales-Dawson) in 2018, Mercedes McQueen’s (Jennifer Metcalfe) in 2015 and Warren Fox’s (Jamie Lomas) in 2011.
For Warren’s return viewers were treated to flashback as to how he escaped the fire which allegedly killed him 18 months ago.
Just how Hollyoaks will explain his escape from death is yet to be seen.
Talking about returning to set he said: "It’s still freaking me out every day. Everything’s so much bigger and different but I walk past bits and literally have flashbacks to scenes.
"I walk past the stairwell and think 'I remember having that fight with Rob Hawthorne there' or I’ll look and go 'that’s where I pulled up on the motorbike.' It’s weird how your brain throws you back, it’s really strange but it’s wonderful."
His original stint on Hollyoaks saw him married as a teenager to sweetheart Ruth Osbourne, being accused of the attempted murder of Spike, and cheating on Ruth with Kate Patrick.
He returns to the show on his motorbike as Tony is being manipulated by his father Edward and is on the brink of divorce from his wife Dianne.
