Gemma Collins begs her fans to support Boris Johnson and help save Christmas – and lives

GEMMA Collins has called on her fans to back Boris Johnson saying: "We must support him."

The Towie star, 39, threw her weight behind the Prime Minster after he introduced tough new measures to combat rising coronavirus cases.

And she pleaded with followers to stick to the government's rules around wearing masks and social distancing in a bid to "save Christmas".

She posted her famous "I'm claustrophic, Darren" moment from Celebrity Big Brother - but with the name "Boris" dubbed over the top instead.

But she wrote in the caption on Instagram: "Guys all jokes aside !!! We must listen to @borisjohnsonuk he’s got a tough job on his hands !!!

"But he is trying to keep us all safe and we must support him ✌🏻 please take note this is not a joke this is real !!!

Gemma added the dual hashtags "#supportborisjohnson" and "#savelifes".

The prime minister has urged Brits to show "discipline, resolve, and the spirit of togetherness" to get Britain through the "difficult" months to come - or face a new national lockdown.

He rammed the point home in a stark television address on Tuesday night.

The PM announced a 10pm curfew on pubsrestaurants and other hospitality venues in England starting from Thursday.

It emerged yesterday that UK coronavirus cases had risen by 6,178 in 24 hours in the third highest day ever.

The concerning climb brings the total number of people infected by the bug to 409,729.

A further 37 deaths were also recorded in the UK from coronavirus over the past 24 hours.
