‘Drunk’ Kerry Katona has a meltdown after being ‘mobbed by fans’ at festival
Star then leaves venue and is refused re-entry sparking a meltdown as Zayn Malik gives his excuses
KERRY KATONA could not let ZAYN MALIK’s meltdown steal all the limelight at the weekend’s Summertime Ball.
While the ex-ONE DIRECTION star dropped out of the bash at the last minute citing “anxiety”, Kerry was busy creating a big drama of her own.
The car-crash former ATOMIC KITTEN pulled an almighty hissy fit at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday after claiming she was mobbed by fans who were ripping the clothes from her back.
So far, so hard to believe.
After going outside to calm down (or perhaps down another glass of Lambrini) she was refused re-entry, meaning her 14-year-old daughter Molly was left alone in the venue.
Meanwhile, Kerry went to a nearby hotel to drown her sorrows with a stranger she met outside a burger van.
Classy.
A source said: “Kerry said she was mobbed and that she was genuinely scared of the crowds trying to get a picture with her.
“People were grabbing at her so she was concerned for the safety of Molly.
“She went out for a cigarette to de-stress and when she tried to get back in they stopped her.
“She was quite drunk and kicked off, threatening to call the police if they wouldn’t let her in.
“Eventually she gave up and left. She met a guy outside who took her to the Ibis hotel for a drink before she picked the girls up later.”
Kerry went on a social media rampage after the incident and complained she had spent a “s**tload on tickets” — comments she swiftly deleted.
Still, she hardly missed much, as headline act Zayn was a no-show.
Causing a huge headache for concert bosses, he skipped his first-ever solo UK performance claiming he had suffered “the worst anxiety of his career”.
But sources close to the Bradford lad tell me he never had any anxiety issues during his time in 1D and believe there are more deeper-seated reasons for his spate of no-shows at major work events.
I’m also told he failed to soundcheck hours before pulling out and feared an encounter with his ex-fiancée PERRIE EDWARDS, who had performed earlier with LITTLE MIX.
An insider said: “Zayn didn’t arrive until 8.30pm — minutes before he was due on stage — and refused to get out of his people carrier.
“After an hour of attempts to get him to go on stage, his car was seen driving away from the arena.
“He refused to get out while Little Mix were still in the building.”
Yesterday, Zayn’s on/off model girlfriend GIGI HADID pledged her support for him in a long online post in which she said: “You made the best of the situation and have given your fans an opportunity to understand you better as a performer.”
Her mum Yolanda Hadid added: “Love you Z, this will pass xoxo.”
Some motherly advice would do Zayn good.
If he doesn’t grow up fast, his pop career will end up going the same way as Kerry’s.
