Kelly Clarkson admits she ‘expected to grow old’ with ex Brandon Blackstock before ’emotional rollercoaster’ of divorce
KELLY Clarkson shared how she always envisioned herself “growing old” with ex Brandon Blackstock before she decided to file for divorce earlier this year.
The 38-year-old singer cited "irreconcilable differences” as the reason why she after seven years of marriage.

During a two-part interview with the Today show on Monday, opened up about what led to her divorce and what life has been like for her since filing the papers in June.
She told : "You can ask anyone that's gone through divorce, I don't think anyone expects it.

“You see yourself growing old with someone and then life has a different path, and it's so hard on everyone.
“You know me, I'm really open... I try to be open and share because we all go through things so we can help each other not feel alone.”

What makes this situation harder on the usually-open Kelly, though, is the fact that there are kids involved.
She and Brandon, who wed in 2013, have two children together – 6-year-old daughter River Rose and son Remington Alexander, 4.
He also has two kids from a previous marriage.
The Voice coach explained to the Today co-host about her complicated situation: "We have four kids total together. So that's a lot of hearts involved.

“You just have to be really careful. It's just a tricky thing to navigate. It's hard on everyone involved.
"We're in the public eye, so that's hard, too — to try to be truthful but also keep your privacy for not just myself but others.”

Over the past few months, Kelly said everything’s been really “difficult” and she’s been going through a “rollercoaster of emotions” over the end of her marriage.
The hitmaker met her music manager and soon-to-be-ex backstage at a rehearsal for the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2006.

The pair got engaged in December 2012 and married a year later at a luxury estate in Tennessee.
She filed for divorce in Los Angeles on June 4, 2020 and is requesting .

The Miss Independent singer soid: "I mean, it's no secret. My life has been a little bit of a dumpster.
“Personally, it's been a little hard the last couple months. I've been talking to friends that have been through divorce.
"I don't know how people go through that without having some kind of outlet because it is the worst thing ever for everyone involved.

One of the outlets Kelly has for her "rollercoaster of emotions" is the new album that she's working on, as well as her talk show.
She's been performing powerful covers of both anthemic and emotional songs on her daily TV show, putting everything she has into the renditions.
