Gemma Atkinson says her daughter Mia, 1, loves the gym and is banned from biscuits and juice
GEMMA Atkinson has revealed her daughter Mia loves joining her in the gym - but is banned from eating biscuits.
The former soap star says the one-year-old has followed in her fitness footsteps, and even owns her own sports equipment.
“She’s just started to walk, so it’s a bit more difficult as she’s learned to pull herself up with the little dumbbells we’ve got and she loves playing with barbells.
“My stepbrother bought her a kit with a tiny little protein shaker, dumbbell and a sweatband, now she’s got her weights lined up in the gym.”
The former Strictly star - who shares the adorable tot with boyfriend Gorka Márquez - also opened up on Mia's eating habits.
Gemma added: “If Mia’s being naughty, sometimes I think, ‘If I give her a biscuit, she’ll shut up.’
“But then I go, ‘No! I’m not dealing with her emotion via food because it’s going to get worse and worse and worse.’ She’s not had any juice yet, she loves water. I don’t want her addicted.”
Earlier this month, Gemma faced a barrage of abuse after she posted a video of herself working out in front of Mia.
In the sweet clip, the actress was seen on a cross trainer as her daughter watched on.
Some fans slammed her for this, with one cruel fan claiming Mia was the "last thing" on Gem's mind and she should "take a leaf out of Stacey Solomon's book" when it comes to parenting.
Stacey soon rushed to Gemma's defence, saying: "Gemma you are smashing it. Keep being the amazing mum to the woman you are raising."
It certainly isn't the first time the former Hollyoaks star has been targeted by online abuse.
She recently opened up on how she deals with nasty comments from trolls during an interview with Women's Health.
The actress revealed she was called 'fat' by a follower after old episodes of the Channel 4 show were back on screen.
The mum-of-one shared: "For Hollyoaks turning 25 years old, they’ve been re-running some episodes, and they’ve had a week of my episodes, and people have actually DM’d me.
"A guy DM’d me, and he said, 'wow, I never realised at the time, but you were fat in Hollyoaks weren’t you?'
"I went back to him and I said, 'well, I was 15, so I was chubbier than what I am now, but please, please don’t let your daughter think that that’s your idea of fat… she will have problems for the rest of her life if that’s the case'."
