Gogglebox fear cast are turning into fame hungry celebrities
The producers feel the show will lose its appeal if the cast become celebs
GOGGLEBOX bosses are trying to clamp down on the stars of the show becoming fame hungry celebrities.
With ratings jumping from 1.9 million to 4.3 million, producers feel the cast will "lose their appeal" if they cash in on their growing public profiles.
A show insider tells The Sun Online: “The cast are the hottest things around right now and brands are offering big money to snap them up for other TV projects and endorsements – but Channel Four bosses fear the more they’re seen, the less appeal the show will have. There have been discussions amongst the cast about negotiating any contracts ahead of the next series with what they can and can’t do.”
The battle between remaining relatable and making the most of their new celeb status has escalated recently.
During the recent Star Boot Sale charity event in East London, Brixton babe Sandra Martin was overheard by The Sun Online refusing to talk to various punters and media in attendance.
Sandra explained: “I can’t talk! They got me under contact, I can only do selfies from now on, you get me?”

The Sun previously revealed how I’m A Celebrity bosses are desperate to sign Scarlett Moffatt up to the next series, which will begin in November.
An inside source told us: "Scarlett is one of the most sought-after names in TV right now. Producers and casting directors have cottoned on to how popular she is."
However, a rep for Gogglebox quickly denied that she’d be jumping channel, stating: "Scarlett is not taking part in I'm A Celebrity and will continue to entertain Gogglebox fans from her sofa." They added that Scarlett was approached by producers of Rylan's show "but turned down the offer as it conflicts with her exclusive Gogglebox contract."
