'HORRIBLE'

BLM dance: Jordan Banjo fights tears as Perri Kiely tells trolls to ‘bin themselves’ after Diversity’s BGT routine

DIVERSITY’S Jordan Banjo fought back tears today over the “horrible” complaints that flooded in over their Black Lives Matter dance.

Over 10,000 people objected to TV watchdog Ofcom after the dance group performed on Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday night.

The performance, which saw Jordan’s brother Ashley lying on the floor with a white police officer kneeling on him, referenced the death of George Floyd in the US.

There were also backing dancers performing dressed in riot gear and the group took the knee during the performance.

Speaking on his Kiss radio show, which he hosts with Diversity co-star Perri Kiely, Jordan said they had been bombarded with “horrible stuff” in the wake of the dance.

At one point his voice cracked with emotion, saying: “It’s sad, it’s sad, genuinely.”

Meanwhile, Perri hit back at one critic telling them to “get in the bin”.

Addressing the criticism on the radio show today, 24-year-old Perri began: “On Saturday we performed with Diversity on Britain’s Got Talent.

“Our performance covered the events of this year and the appalling messages that need to be spoken about.”

Jordan, 27, added: “Of course you get some critiques but normally it’s focused on the dance.

“But this one was different, it was really important, it was special to us.

“We are all about positivity and love and we got so much positivity and love back from this one.

“But we also got bombarded with messages and articles of horrible stuff about us, about our families, about how even now Diversity not diverse enough because there’s only five white people in it.”

Getting emotional, he added added: “I can’t speak for anyone else it’s sad, it’s sad, genuinely.

Meanwhile, Perri Kiely told one troll objecting to the performance to “bin yourself” alongside an emoji of a wastepaper basket.

He added: “I can’t believe the replies to this… apparently these people are adults!? Go educate yourselves.”

Some BGT viewers said the “powerful” performance had moved them to tears while others insisted a “political statement” had no place on the talent show.
