Who is Steve Royle?

Steve Royle, 51, is a comedian, actor, juggler, and all-round entertainer from Chorley, Lancashire.

He made it through to the semi finals of the hit talent show after securing the support of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams, and Alesha Dixon.

Steve has worked as a comedian for over 30 years and used to regularly perform at the Blackpool Theatre.

He also worked on TV comedies such as Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy, Behind The Scene and Stand Up Britain.

Why did he make it to the Britain's Got Talent final?

Steve secured the vote of all four judges - David Walliams, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Ashley Banjo - to go through to the BGT final.

David Walliams told him: "I so nearly pushed the golden buzzer for you in the heats, it was one of the funniest performances I have ever seen on this show. You have funny bones and you are a very, very special comedian."

Royle began his audition by juggling using three clubs, before throwing them onto the ground; he then cued the music to stop and say "sorry, I forgot - there used to be two of us'".

He then announced he was going to do some balloon modelling, asking Alesha to name an animal.

When she responded 'elephant', he remarked that that was too difficult and announced he was going to 'mind-read', asking her to think of an animal whilst giving non-subtle hints that the animal he wanted was a dog.

He then began to 'blow up' the balloon, however this resulted in him 'puffing up' his cheeks instead.

It was then revealed that he had table tennis balls in his mouth, and he began to play the guitar and mime lyrics. He then juggled the balls in his mouth, finishing his act by juggling with the guitars.

Amanda remarked 'it was old-school but it felt fresh, it felt polished', with Simon describing the act as 'end-of-the-pier Britain'.

Is the comedian married?

Yes. Steve Royle is married to wife Janet Maher.

The couple tied the knot in September 2020 and have a child together, Daisy.

There is not much information about the family other than they are from north-west England.
