Captain Tom Moore to reveal all about his life on Piers Morgan’ Life Stories
CAPTAIN TOM MOORE probably thought it would not get any better than receiving his knighthood from THE QUEEN.
But an even bigger honour has been bestowed upon the lockdown hero — an invite to sit down with Piers Morgan.
I can reveal Sir Tom is the Good Morning Britain host’s first big signing for the new series of his Life Stories chat show on ITV.
The national treasure is expected to discuss his early life in Yorkshire, serving the nation during World War Two and, of course, his epic lockdown walk which raised £32million for the NHS in the run-up to his 100th birthday.
Sources say Piers was personally involved with securing Sir Tom for his show’s 17th series.
The telly motormouth donated £10,000 to the former Army officer’s “magnificently inspiring” fundraising campaign and publicly called for a knighthood back in April — before Sir Tom duly received the gong at Windsor Castle in July.
A TV insider said: “Like the rest of the nation, Piers was in awe of Sir Tom’s fundraising. The campaign really took off after Tom appeared on Good Morning Britain, so Piers feels great pride in what Tom achieved.
“In the dark days of lock-down, it was everyday heroes, not celebs, who brought joy to the nation.
"So while it’s normally scandalous figures who make the best episodes on his show, Piers knew Tom’s extraordinary, inspiring story would be a big draw.”
Sir Tom will follow showbiz greats such as Barbara Windsor, Sir Elton John, Sir Cliff Richard and Burt Reynolds in appearing on Life Stories.
Given how much he has lived, it may need to be an extended episode.
