KATE Garraway has revealed that she is writing a self-help book about her husband Derek's coronavirus battle.
The star said that she'd started writing Good Morning Life: How To Wake Up Every Day And Smile before her partner was rushed to hospital in March, but she is now reworking it to include her family's ongoing ordeal.
She and co-host Alex Beresford were debating the importance of self-help books on Good Morning Britain earlier today after singer Adele heaped praise on Glennon Doyle's Untamed: Stop Pleasing, Start Living for "changing her life".
Kate, 53, shared: "I am going to declare that just before Derek got sick I started writing a book, I got a publishing deal, based on well-being and all the things I've learned.
"It was going to be called Good Morning Life: How To Wake Up Every Day And Smile, it's still going ahead, I'm still writing it, but I'm going to include obviously different insight that has happened to me along the way."
She added: "I find that there are books that are very helpful."
The presenter's life was turned upside down earlier this year when her husband Derek fell ill with coronavirus and had to be put into an induced coma as his body struggled to fight the deadly illness.
Although he is now out of the coma, Derek still has limited consciousness and is unable to speak - with doctors warning that he may stay in his current condition.
Kate said that it's a "waiting game" and she is lucky that medical professionals "still have hope".
On yesterday's episode of Good Morning Britain, Kate fought back tears as she discussed having to celebrate Derek's birthday without him.
She explained: "It was obviously a challenging one under the circumstances.
"We managed to FaceTime him and sing Happy Birthday.
"We had a cake which we ate over FaceTime. It was very challenging for the kids, but they are doing it brilliantly.
"We managed to do it with Derek's family and technically hook up and sing Happy Birthday. We just hope the love seeps through."
Derek and Kate married in 2005 and share 14-year-old Darcey and 11-year-old Billy.
