Niall Horan spills the beans on bandmate Liam Payne’s private relationship with Cheryl: ‘There’s a little bit of a story behind it’
Cheryl and Liam have been dating for six months and raised eyebrows with their 10-year age gap
NIALL Horan has revealed there's "a bit of a story" behind his bandmate Liam Payne's relationship with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
The pair have been dating since last December and have raised eyebrows with the 10 year age gap between them.
She split from Jean Bernard last year after 19 months of marriage.
Little is known about how the pair hooked up and Niall hinted there was an interesting back story.
Niall told : "There's a little bit of a story behind it but I won't be telling you that.
"She's a great girl, really fun. He's a top man and one of my best friends.
"She seems happy, he's happy, so I'm happy for them."
Cheryl, 32 and Liam, 22 made their red carpet debut at the Global Gift Gala in Paris last month and also attended a number of events at the Cannes Film Festival.
However, the couple prefer spending nights on the couch together rather than attending glamorous events.
Cheryl recently told Hello! "I've been going to a few concerts, playing on the Xbox – and eating cheeseburgers."
Meanwhile, Cheryl's ex-husband Jean Bernard is reportedly moving to London.
Following the success of his pop-up restaurant Cosy Box in Cannes, the restaurateur wants to open a new joint in swanky West London.

A source told The Mirror: “Cosy Box did incredibly well. JB’s moving to London to set up his own restaurant. He’s been planning it for the last six months and has found the spot he wants.
“The design is all done. It’s going to be the next Chiltern Firehouse.”
Meanwhile, rumours started to circulate recently that Niall was set to release new solo material but the Irish man says he's not ready for that yet.
He said: "I’ve been in the studio writing bits and pieces. Nothing is really in the pipeline in particular, just keeping the mind ticking over and doing what I like.
"I’ve always been into the writing and trying out different things musically. I’ve made relationships with a few writers over the years so it’s been good calling them up saying, ‘Do you want to write?’ then popping into the studio. I haven’t done much, about five sessions maybe. I’ve just been chilling out.”
While the 22-year-old admits he misses the boyband life, he's been enjoying One Direction's hiatus so far.
He also said he's hoping to get over to LA to visit Louis Tomlinson's baby, Freddie and said he thinks it's "great" that Harry Styles is starring in upcoming World War Two drama, Dunkirk.
