Rita Ora escapes Jay-Z’s clutches as she finally quits Roc Nation label
Former X Factor judge has finally reached an agreement after long legal battle and can't wait to get started on her next album
RITA ORA will be relieved to no longer count herself as one of JAY Z’s 99 problems.
After a ferocious six-month battle, the singer has finally broken free from her stale recording contract with the rapper’s Roc Nation music label.
The warring pair have reached a settlement at the Supreme Court in New York, meaning Rita can now start work on her second album - her first since her debut Ora in 2012.
And the former X Factor judge has wasted no time getting back to the day-job.
She has spent the past six days secretly shacked up in a West Hollywood studio working on her new sound before yesterday jetting back to Canada to continue her Fifty Shades commitments.
A source said: “Rita is overjoyed she can finally start discussions with other labels, which have been waiting for this case to be resolved.
“She’s currently filming Fifty Shades but once filming wraps she will finalise a new record deal and start work immediately on recording her new album.
“She wants to get back to what she loves. She has a lot of respect for Jay Z and is grateful for everything he has done for her career. This was never a dispute with him.”

Rita shocked the music world last December when she filed a lawsuit seeking a split from Roc Nation, the home of artists including RIHANNA and formerly KANYE WEST, who quit in February in favour of Universal.
The star claimed she’d been left “orphaned” by head honcho Jay Z as he pursued other projects.
The rapper then countersued Rita for £1.6million in a late twist after alleging it was her who failed to deliver a promised five albums stipulated in the contract.
Amidst their legal battle, Rita was also forced to deny she’d had an affair with her former boss after fans falsely identified her as ‘Becky with the good hair’ in BEYONCE’s cheating album Lemonade.
Yesterday, Rita teased two contracts on her Snapchat account and concealed the sensitive text with two flower emojis, sending fans into a frenzy she’d already bagged a new deal.
However, I can confirm the documents were not to do with her music – negotiations about that are still very much ongoing.
I revealed last month how Rita had been shown early interest from Warner Music, the home of her former love interest BRUNO MARS, who were desperate to snap her up, but is now at the centre of a huge bidding war between music’s biggest labels now the case if over.
That’s one battle Rita won’t have any complaints about.
