Coronation Street’s Catherine Tyldesley was serenaded on her wedding day by on-screen boyfriend Shayne Ward
Telly stars let work overspill in to real life as they shared tender moment at glitzy nuptials
CATHERINE Tyldesley discovered there’s a plus-side to working with a former X Factor winner… mates rates for wedding entertainment.
The Coronation Street star walked down the aisle this weekend, and if saying “I do” wasn’t thrilling enough, she had an intimate Shayne Ward gig waiting for her at the reception.
Shayne, 31, sang Butterfly Kisses by US singer Bob Carlisle, a special request from the blushing bride.
He told Hello! magazine: “Cath asked me to sing it for her only a few weeks ago. I’m so happy and honoured I was able to do it for her.”
And it was a poignant choice, with the lyrics telling the story of a father’s love for his little girl… who is about to get married.
Cath, 32, looked radiant on her big day, which was attended by scores of her Corrie castmates – including Jane Danson, Samia Ghadie, Jennie McAlpine, Ryan Thomas, Jack P Shepherd and Brooke Vincent – and the couple’s 14-month-old son Alfie.
She wed fitness consultant Tom Pitfield at Cheshire’s Colshaw Hall wearing a Philip Armstrong wedding gown, before changing in to a bespoke silk gown by Mark Melia for her reception.
She told the mag: “It was my dream come true.
“I had been looking forward to this moment for so long. Tom and I are very traditional and it was important for us to show our deep commitment to each other.
“The night before I was so excited that I could hardly sleep for thinking about it, and when I walked in, the sight before me blew me away.
“It was picture perfect. There were scented candles and beautiful flowers – and most importantly of all, there was Tom.”
Her groom was just as soppy, saying: “She looked so beautiful. This lady changed my life the moment she walked into it.
“She is the most caring and beautiful woman I’ve ever met.”
The full interview is in this week’s Hello!, which is out now
