EastEnders’ Steve McFadden returns to filming on soap set as he’s spotted arriving on his moped

EASTENDERS' legend Steve McFadden was spotted arriving on set on his moped as he returned to filming after lockdown.

Steve, 61, made his way back to the Borehamwood studios to play Phil Mitchell for the first in months after soap production was halted in March.

The actor, who has portrayed hardman Phil Mitchell since 1990, wore a tight black top, shorts and comfy trainers as he kept cool in the heat whizzed into work on his shiny blue motor.

Steve was faced with new safety measures including temperature checks at the gates of the studios.

With his helmet on and visor up, it would have been easy for the security guards to get a good look at Steve before he entered the premises.

In addition to temperature checks before they can enter the studio, EastEnders have also put strict social distancing procedures in place - with the cast being seen filming with dummies so that they don't get too close to their colleagues.

EastEnders was the last of the soaps to return to filming, and the only one forced off air after they ran out of episodes that'd been recorded before the ongoing pandemic.

New episodes are expected to be ready for our screens in September, with EastEnders cutting episodes down to 20-minutes, four times a week.

The BBC have been airing an iconic vintage episode each week, as well as a documentary special Secrets From The Square - hosted by Stacey Dooley.

But Steve has some dramatic storylines ahead, with the last episode aired before Enders went off air being Ian buying Sharon the Queen Vic from under him, and fans can't wait to see his reaction.

Fans last saw them on air in June, and the final episode ended in a huge twist.

Guilt-ridden Ian bought The Queen Vic for Sharon - and not Phil as he'd planned.

Phil is back together with Sharon after the boat tragedy but she is yet to find out about Ian's involvment in her son's death.

However in the meantime, viewers have been taking a trip down memory lane.

BBC One has been showing a selection of classic episodes including the iconic Den and Angie two hander.

Longtime fans will remember the ground-breaking episodes that featured just Den and Angie (so called a two hander) that became synonymous with EastEnders.
