GETHIN Jones has dropped out of the Celebrity MasterChef final after suddenly falling ill with coronavirus symptoms.
The Welsh TV presenter, 42, admitted he was "gutted" to pull out of the show but would "never put anyone at risk".
He was due to compete alongside Judi Love, Sam Quek, Phil Daniels, Amar Latif, Sir Matthew Pinsent and Riyadh Khalaf in tonight's semi-final for a place in the final three.
But the show's hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace revealed that he was too unwell to carry on in the competition.
Gethin took to Twitter as the show started to explain what happened.
"Thank you for all your lovely messages re @MasterChefUK," he told fans.
He continued: "I had symptoms of Covid-19 the morning of the next stage.
"Absolutely GUTTED... but it was the easiest decision.
"Would never put anyone at risk. Enjoy the next hour - these guys can cook!!!"
Viewers rushed to Twitter to share their concern for Gethin.
"Gutted for you Gethin! Such a shame," one tweeted.
"Not good. Really sorry Gethin. Thought you were amazing and very passionate keen to learn and succeed. Hope you recovered quickly," another added.
