Time for a change

Corrie star Kate Ford wants to see Tracy Barlow’s fun side

Kate Ford hints at change in Tracy Barlow's character

AFTER years of playing the Corrie bad girl, actress Kate Ford hints the street's villain could be set for a change of image.

Kate, 39, has starred as the no nonsense Tracy for 14 years, but revealed it's time for the dark-haired vixen to change her ways after recent explosive scenes on the ITV soap.

Tracy was seen pushing her archrival Carla Connor to the limit and forcing her to call off her long awaited wedding to Nick Tilsley.

Kate told the : "Everybody has turned their back on Tracy.

"She has pushed everyone too far and even her daughter - who she's always taken for granted - doesn't want to know her.

"There's now going to be a period of karma which forces Tracy to learn from all this."

A few light-hearted scenes could also be just what Tracy needs if Kate has her way.

Kate went on: "I like it when I get more comedic stuff to do and I like it when I get things that aren’t sensational."

A jealous Tracy blackmailed Underworld owner Carla, played by Alison King, over her one night stand with Robert - Tracy's boyfriend.

Shocking scenes saw Carla almost knock Tracy over, before changing her mind at the last minute, but in the process causing an almighty car crash on the Weatherfield cobbles.

But with Carla's departure, Kate says it gives her character a chance to develop.

She explained: "I am looking forward to getting plot lines now that aren’t defined by Tracy’s hatred of Carla.

"Carla leaving gives the character more scope.

"Tracy has some health problems with her one kidney and the people that she thinks are going to be there for her aren’t concerned at all."

As a result of Tracy's interference in Carla's relationship she loses her boyfriend Robert in the process.

"I'm a bit unshockable now when it comes to what the producers do with Tracy. I don't know what else there would be do to," she added.
