KATE Garraway will today visit her husband Derek Draper in hospital for the second time since he fell desperately ill in March.

The 53-year-old was kept apart from Derek, 52, for four months as he battled coronavirus.

Safety measures stopped her from being able to see him on the coronavirus ward - and she had to rely on medics FaceTiming her from his bedside.

"I am going to visit him again today," Kate told her GMB co-host Ben Shephard.

"I am going to get the chance to visit. I'll tell you all about that."

Ben said: "We're looking forward to hearing how he's doing."

Derek has "minimum consciousness" after being woken from an induced coma as he fought for his life against the deadly virus.

Kate revealed nurses believe he "recognised her voice' on the TV as she presented Good Morning Britain yesterday.

She told the programme today: "Derek had quite a tough week.

"He had two big falls in blood pressures, which were worrying staff. There was also swelling in his legs which was concerning that it might be clots.

"It was very emotional."

Giving a glimpse of good news about Derek's recovery, Kate added: "He is stable and actually yesterday, I spoke to the nurses said they had put Good Morning Britain on and they felt he looked focused and engaged on it."

Her co-host Ben Shephard said: "So he actually watched the programme?" and Kate jokingly replied: "They didn't say if [he was watching] me or you..."

"I found it very emotional," Kate added.

"We don't know if it's the movement of the light or the sound of a familiar voice, but Good Morning Derek if you are watching.

"We're all sending you so much love. Here you are, your very own personal Good Morning Britain."

And despite the tragic circumstances Kate has faced over the past four months, she kept in good spirits as she joked: "It is odd because he'd never really watch me on TV before - or cared - so there's a big change.

"It's a lovely thought that he's watching."
