Piers Morgan reveals he won’t return to Good Morning Britain until September – with his holiday starting this week
PIERS Morgan has revealed he will be away from Good Morning Britain until September.
The 55-year-old host, one of the most vocal critics of the government during the coronavirus crisis, said today that he and Susanna Reid would be taking a break - starting at the end of the week.
And tonight he revealed he will be away for months when he replied to a worried fan on Twitter who told him: "Hope you don’t intend to make it permanent Piers."
The TV star replied: Thanks Charlotte, but don't worry - we'll be back in September."
One fan, downcast at the prospect of a Piers-free summer, replied: "That's a shame. Boring time coming up then."
Speaking on GMB today, the host suggested he was leaving the country for a break as soon as he films his last show this week.
He explained during a feature on travel this morning: "I have a vested interest because I'm trying to get away at the end of this week.
"I cannot wait to get away. I know not everyone feels that way, but I can't wait. I do want to do it safely, but I can't wait to get away."
A roster of stand-in hosts, who usually include Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins, will appear on the show while the main presenters are away.
Piers is a fan of luxury international travel, having popped up in some of the world's most glamorous locations over the years, often with his children.
