Phillip Schofield almost falls flat on his face after getting pulled by This Morning dog
PHILLIP Schofield was left embarrassed after almost face planting the studio floor when Clover the puppy decided to run off live on today's This Morning.
The TV pup betrayed the presenters commands, fleeing his grasp for a more appealing patch of carpet to chew a tasty piece of bone.
Phillip was keen to show viewers just how far the puppy had come in training, but the demonstration ultimately backfired.
It all started off well, with Phillip keeping Clover under control and joking: "She's worked very hard but it's often down to bribery isn't it..."
Trying to make the pooch obey him, the presenter cooed: "You know what I've got in my hand, you know don't you? You know I always give it to you if you're a good girl”
Co presenter Holly Willoughby, sensing the dogs impatience, said: "Oh will you just give it to her!"
Clover seemed initially interested in the snack Phillip had to offer, but then decided to run off to a rug on the other side of the studio.
Unaware the cheeky labrador had taken her own cue, Phillip was tugged by the lead he was holding on to, sending him off balance and crashing down to the carpet.
Holly erupted into a fit of giggles, saying: "That was fantastic!"
Viewers were tickled by the gaffe, with Mia Grace tweeting: “Phillip Schofield just got pulled over a dog, brill #thismorning”.
Another, Rebecca Miller tweeted: “Good Clover! Took the treat and p*ssed off! #ThisMorning”
Laura Jean Smith added: “That was fantastic! It certainly was @hollywills! Poor @Schofe! #TMClover #ThisMorning
Trying to recover, Phil said: "What is the matter with this rug?! Why does she have to go and eat it on that rug!"
This Morning is on weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
