Chase Rice, 34, is an American country singer from Florida who has been featured in the hit reality TV show Survivor: Nicaragua.
He has co-written songs with other country musicians like Florida Georgia Line.
Rice began playing guitar in college and cites his father as the inspiration for his career, recalling his father saying: "boy anyone can play guitar, but no one is gonna really listen to you until you start singing."
He says that reality stardom from Survivor: Nicaragua did not help propel his country music career.
Instead, he cited it as an important life event that was more valuable than money, and that put his life in perspective.
When did he host a concert in Tennessee?
On Sunday, Rice hosted a concert in Petros, Tennessee, at the Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary, a prison-turned-event center.
It marked the first time Rice has performed in four months, after he released his new album, The Album Part 1, in January.
In some videos from the concert, , fans can be seen screaming packed tightly in the venue.
According to TMZ, the venue has a capacity of 10,000 and on Saturday about 4,000 people were allowed into the building.
Country singer 26, and Twitter users slammed the country singer for allowing this concert to take place during a viral pandemic.
One user wrote: “#ChaseRice Hosts Packed Concert in Tennessee, No Masks or Distancing via @TMZ — Way to be a hero...greedy assholes. When innocent people die, blame yourselves for spreading CoVid.”
Ballerini tweeted: “Imagine being selfish enough to put thousands of people’s health at risk, not to mention the potential ripple effect, and play a NORMAL country concert right now.
“@ChaseRiceMusic, We all want (and need) to tour. We just care about our fans and their families enough to wait,” she wrote.
Her response to the video and to Chase’s decision to put on a large concert ended up going even more viral than the original post.
Many agreed with the singer-songwriter, including another country-pop artist, Cassadee Pope.
“I’m so confused as to how this many people got approved by a venue to gather during a pandemic. Wtf?” said Pope.
Chase has yet to respond to all of the fans and fellow musicians slamming him.
Why was he on The Bachelor?

Rice said he believed that he was on the show to promote his new music, as many have done in previous seasons, but was left "pretty surprised" by the turn of events.
Reflecting on the run-in, Rice called it "unnecessary" and insisted that he never wanted to have anything to do "with the drama" of the show.
