Winning BGT dog trainer Jules O’Dwyer reveals she used prize money to fund wedding
Mum-of-one said 'it was about time' she and her girlfriend got around to making relationship 'more permanent'
BRITAIN’s Got Talent champ Jules O’Dwyer has revealed she used some of her £250,000 winnings to marry her girlfriend.
The 49-year-old dog handler, who caused controversy after The Sun revealed she was using a dog double during her final performance, described how she used the show’s prize money to have a lavish wedding.
Jules, who performs with her border collie Matisse tied the knot with partner Marie-France — with stunt collie Matisse awarded the honour of the first dance.
“The money meant we could have a wonderful day together. For the first time in a long time we actually had time together because I am usually away working”, she said.
“After everything we went through we just decided that we love our life together so let’s make it more permanent.
“We’ve been together 11 years so it was about time we got round to it.”
Mum-of-one Jules, who lives in Belgium, said: “There was about 120 people, it was very special. It was a big knees up and of course Matisse was there.
“He actually got the first dance. He started the dancing for everyone and surprised everyone.
“There had to be dogs there, of course.”
Jules, who performed at the Royal Variety Show in November, also opened up about her daughter’s feelings towards her same-sex marriage.
She added: “My daughter Kate is 16 so she’s really known nothing else, to her it’s normal.”
