Take That play Radio 1’s Big Weekend as first major British festival in the band’s history

IT’S only taken 25 years, but TAKE THAT are finally playing their first major British festival.

The manband will perform single Cry, a collaboration with SIGMA, at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Exeter next week, fresh from recording their video with the dance act at Arena Essex Raceway.

Despite being one of the UK’s most successful acts the lads – GARY BARLOW, HOWARD DONALD and MARK OWEN – have never been asked to perform at spectacles like Glastonbury.

JOE LENZIE of Sigma had a go at Worthy Farm boss MICHAEL EAVIS for ignoring them.

He told Radio One: “From their perspective they don’t need to but there can definitely be an air of snobbery from festivals and some promoters.

“When you have that amount of success on a commercial level there are some ‘cool festivals’ that might look their noses down on that, which I think is a very negative thing.

“Ultimately success and chart positions really show how popular an artist is. I find it quite sad situations like that. Take That deserve to be headlining Glastonbury because they’re great.”

Take That and Sigma shot the video as stock cars whizzed around the track pouring out blue smoke.

It might be a touch ambitious trying to recreate that in Exeter.
