Who is EastEnders’ mysterious Andy the Builder?
Five dramatic theories as to the real identity of Walford's latest hunk
EASTENDERS fans have reached fever pitch over the soap's buff new character Andy the Builder - and are desperate to know who he really is.
The character - played by Jack Derges - first appeared in Walford in March as the fit builder pal of Linford, Vincent Hubbard's foster brother, and quickly had female viewers drooling over his hunky frame and chiselled features.
But as the weeks have passed, Andy has become more of a prominent feature on Albert Square, flirting with Stacey Branning before getting close to Jack Branning and Ronnie Mitchell.
As avid viewers will know, Ronnie (Samantha Womack) is currently dealing with a secret stalker, and Andy was recently seen with a secret file of press cuttings on her and the shocking baby swap saga.
The scene gave a strong hint that the builder is the person who has scared Ronnie with funeral wreaths as well as watching her from afar while wearing an oversized hood to disguise their face, but is he really the stalker?
As fans continue to scratch their heads over Andy's real identity, here are just some of the most dramatic theories surrounding the builder.
- He's Archie Mitchell's son
This would explain why he is snooping around Ronnie, as being Archie's son would make him her brother.
There's a fair bit of evidence that would back up this theory too, such as the weird moment he cradled a framed picture of Ronnie and sister Roxy after he broke into the former's home.
He also took a rather keen interest in Roxy after she got caught up with some drug dealers.
Archie was certainly no saint before he was murdered by Stacey as revenge for raping her back in 2010, so it's highly plausible the former landlord of The Vic could have had a secret love child elsewhere, and would also explain Andy's interest in Stacey.
- He's Kat Slater's son
It was recently revealed that Kat (Jessie Wallace) had given birth to twins when she had daughter Zoe in a convent as a teenager, with her secret son being adopted by a family in Ireland.
However, Andy could well be her grown up son and has turned up in Walford to seek revenge against Ronnie for stealing his half-brother, his age would roughly fit the timeline too.
- He's Danielle's adopted brother
Hard-core EastEnders fans may recall that Ronnie's dead daughter Danielle had an adopted brother and that her adopted dad was called Andy.
So could Andy the Builder be her sibling and using his dad's name to track down Ronnie?
It would also explain why Andy has taken so much interest in Ron and Stacey, who was Danielle's best friend before her untimely death.
Don't forget Danielle's name was used to buy flowers for Ronnie's funeral from the Cokers.
- He's an undercover policeman
The fact that this storyline has already been done recently when it was revealed that Vincent Hubbard (Richard Blackwood) was an informant for the cops about the Mitchell clan doesn't mean it can't happen again.
Andy could easily be working undercover to bring down the Mitchell empire and could be planning to lure new pal Jack back into the force and help him nail the family for their many indiscretions.
- He's connected to Carl White
Ronnie certainly knows how to get people's backs up, and so it's no surprise so many have a grudge against her.
And after she had bad boy Carl put in a car crusher for getting sister Roxy hooked on drugs and attempting rape, his family swore revenge.
The threat has so far been proven empty, but could Andy be their secret weapon and is really a hit man hired to finish her off?
