Kim Kardashian wins award for breaking the internet

Kim Kardashian attends the Webby Awards to accept her Break The Internet prize

KIM Kardashian has been honoured with breaking the internet - thanks to her racy pictures.

The dark-haired reality star accepted the first ever Break The Internet Award at the Webby Awards on Monday.

As the gong was handed over to the 35-year-old, she promised to post: "Nude selfies until I die", sticking to the event's rule that acceptance speeches must be only five words long.

Kim, who was dressed in a black figure-hugging Vivienne Westwood gown with a thigh-high split at the awards, has not once, but TWICE been accused of breaking the internet with nude snaps of her ample curves.

The term #BreakTheInternet was first coined when the mother-of-two posed for nude pictures for Paper magazine in 2014 and the shots included snaps of Kim's ample derriére and full frontal nudity.

But when it comes to Kim's nude selfies, it's hard to keep track - she's a huge fan of them and even published a book of selfies last year, titled Selfish.

Earlier this year, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians regular caused a social media storm when she posed naked in front of her bathroom mirror, with only two black lines covering her modesty.

Kim was criticised by a range of celebrities for the shot, including acting legend Bette Midler, 70, who tweeted: "Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera.”

While Piers Morgan offered: ";Want me to buy you some clothes?"

Not to be deterred by the mixed reactions, Kim responded in the only way she knew how - with another naked selfie.

This time a more stylised black and white shot, with the hashtag "#liberated".

Organisers say the inaugural Break The Internet Award is said to credit Kim's "bold and creative" use of her online presence.

The dark-haired beauty has over 70 million Instagram followers and nearly 46 million fans on Twitter.

While Kim was pregnant with her second child, she posted a naked selfie on Instagram to silence those who were commenting on her pregnancy shape.

In a statement from The Webby Awards, it said: "As the leading celebrity in terms of her online presence and understanding of how to connect with a global audience via social media, apps and online video, Kim has set the standard incredibly high."

Kim's rapper husband Kanye West, 38, was also honoured at the showbiz party at Cipriani Wall Street and was named Webby Artist of the Year, but did not attend to pick up his prize.

Other celebrity guests in attendance included Jessica Alba (Webby Entrepreneur of the Year), Lena Dunham (Webby Special Achievement) and Krysten Ritter (Webby Best Actress).
