Coleen Rooney’s Wag pals team up to investigate whether Rebekah Vardy leaked stories about them
ENGLAND World Cup Wags fear Becky Vardy leaked sensitive information about them.
A number of wives and girlfriends voiced concerns in a WhatsApp group.
The new “Wagatha Christie” twist comes after Becky launched a lawsuit against Coleen Rooney who accused her of leaking secrets.
Leicester ace Jamie’s wife Becky, 38, vehemently denied the allegation from her former friend, who was dubbed “Wagatha Christie”.
After the scandal blew up last October, a string of other players’ partners voiced their fears in a WhatsApp chat.
One who confided to Coleen that her partner had been with a prostitute was also worried those details might come out.
There were also concerns that details of a girls’ outing in Russia at the 2018 World Cup was leaked.
Tonight a source said: “Some of the Wags like Dele Alli's partner Ruby Mae, and harry Maguire's fiancee Fern Hawkins were worried about what might have come out, and whether it was anything to do with Becky or her associates.
“And women have been freaking out and ‘doing a Coleen’ — to see if the same thing has happened to them as happened to her.
“They have scrutinised past messages and stories and gone over things with a fine-tooth comb.
“Fern, in particular, has been worried since last October when the row first blew up and has been speaking of her fears recently.”
Her fiancee Harry, 27, moved from Leicester to Man United for £85million last August after months of speculation.
The source went on: “Others also voiced their fears and a lot of girls started to distance themselves from Becky.
“It may all be slightly unfair on Becky, though, as no one has come up with a smoking gun.”
In the latest twist to the saga, we can also reveal that Wayne’s wife Coleen has continued to carry out detective work with the help of Jamie Carragher’s wife, Nicola.
Coleen had been advised to hire specialist digital investigators to help her probe social media posts but instead set about it herself.
Players’ partners, including Fern, 26, Ruby Mae, 24, and Cardiff player Joe Bennett’s wife Cherie Hodge have been voicing their fears on WhatsApp in recent months.
Several have also contacted Coleen to offer their support.
They are said to include Peter Crouch’s wife Abbey, Ashley Ward’s missus Dawn and Tanya Bardsley — wife of Phil, who floored Wayne Rooney in a home boxing video.
Some are also concerned about what may come out in court.
One high-profile partner is said to be “worried sick” that messages she sent to Coleen detailing her partner’s trysts with a prostitute could be revealed.
Mum-of-five Becky, 38, has lodged court papers which claim Coleen defamed her with the social media accusations. They are now set for a showdown in the High Court, possibly next year.
A source said today: “Becky is obviously distraught about this because, no matter how much she protests her innocence, people will struggle to trust her.
“But the Wags are not rallying around her and defending Becky in public because they genuinely don’t know what to believe.
“Until it all comes out in court people will be holding her at arm’s length.
“A lot of Wags are worried as well about what will come out — because messages can obviously form a part of the evidence on both sides.
“One Wag is particularly worried because she found her partner had been meeting a call girl.
“And she confided in Coleen about it and sought her advice. She is worried about solicitors poring over her private messages.”
We can reveal that suspicions about leaked stories had surfaced as far back as the 2018 World Cup.
Partners discussed their fears over a “line-up” picture of them taken in Saint Petersburg.
Nine, including Becky and Fern, were seen heading to a restaurant after England beat Panama.
A separate source said: “The girls are mystified at how the photographer knew where they were. They went along with and posed for the picture but some of them were new on the scene and a bit naïve.
“There have been accusations and theories that the whole thing could have been set up, but nobody has been able to prove it.
“Some, like Fern, are publicity-shy and do not seek the public eye so were a bit put out by the picture and the fact their movements appeared to be known about.
“And it has definitely fuelled the girls’ fears about their own information and led to more of them being sympathetic to Coleen.”
Mum-of-four Coleen was dubbed “Wagatha Christie” after she posted a bombshell social media statement claiming that stories about her had been leaked.
She wrote: “After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be, for various reasons, I had a suspicion.”
Coleen told how she had planted false stories on her private Instagram account, and restricted access to see if they appeared in the media — which they did.
She said only one other account viewed them, signing off dramatically: “It’s Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
Her claims quickly went viral and led to a backlash against distraught Becky, who was heavily pregnant at the time.
The I’m A Celebrity star cut short a holiday to Dubai and flew home. She strongly denied the accusations and said several people had access to her account.
She also told how she had phoned Coleen and said: “What on Earth have you done? You’ve annihilated me in public. The whole world hates me.”
Becky said it would have been pointless discussing it with Coleen, adding: “That would be like arguing with a pigeon. You can tell it you are right and it is wrong but it is still going to s**t in your hair.”
She later revealed how she was taken to hospital three times while pregnant after suffering anxiety attacks over the spat. We revealed last month how Coleen and Becky had their first legal arbitration meeting since the bust-up via Zoom — but failed to resolve their differences.
Last week it emerged Becky had lodged High Court papers claiming Coleen had libelled or slandered her.
Becky has employed a team of big-hitting lawyers to fight her case, and Coleen has replaced her legal advisors with a new firm.
We can also reveal that Coleen has continued her investigation with the help of Nicola, wife of ex-Liverpool player Jamie Carragher.
Nicola is understood to have worked with Coleen in an attempt to uncover evidence. Coleen had replaced her lawyers after being told not all her claims were as “clear cut” as she hoped.
Her team was believed to have outlined doubts about at least one of the three stories Coleen claims were planted, which all appeared in The Sun.
One of those — published in the Sun on Sunday last September — revealed Coleen’s plans to make a TV comeback.

Full details of Becky’s case against Coleen have not been released. But she will have to file detailed papers setting out why she has been libelled or slandered.
She is understood to want to clear her name, rather than receive a financial settlement and is said to be happy to stand up before a judge.
