Doctor Who’s David Tennant to return as the Time Lord and reunite with Alex Kingston’s River Song
DOCTOR Who's David Tennant is returning as the Time Lord and will reunite with Alex Kingston's River Song.
The 49-year-old played the Tenth Doctor in the hit BBC series, before leaving the role after three series in 2008.
While he has returned in cameo roles on a couple of occasions since, David will now reunite with Alex, 57, for a new Doctor Who audio drama.
The pair appeared on screen together in the 'Silence in the Library' and 'Forest of the Dead' episodes, and will now return to their characters for Big Finish audio drama, The Tenth Doctor and River Song.
The stories were recorded remotely, and Whovians can get even more excited by the fact that two more Time Lords will also feature in the drama.
David will be joined by Fifth and Sixth Doctors Peter Davison and Colin Baker in the episodes.
Big Finish decided to make the three new adventures to highlight how important River Song is in the Tenth Doctor's life.
The company's website states: "Their lives are becoming inextricably intertwined, but in these early days – for the Doctor at least – they must navigate their relationship without too many spoilers.
"Whatever her past, and the Doctor's future, holds, River will make sure that he has fun untangling the mystery…"
One new story is called Expiry Dating and sees River ask the Doctor on a date, although it's less of a romantic encounter and more of a mission.
