KELLY Clarkson opened up about her ongoing battle with depression in a candid talk with Demi Lovato.
The talk show host and discussed how overcoming it was a 'daily battle' after recently filing for divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock.
Vocalising her admiration of the 27-year-old , Kelly said: "I love how open you are with mental health, because i have similar issues and I suffer from depression."
The mother-of-two went on: "I think a lot of people especially in the creative world, or just from childhood, who have been trained to sort of just keep going and you can handle it, especially as a woman - don't let them see you sweat.
"And I love that you're open about that, as not everyone is as vulnerable being like that and I think it's helpful for your fans."
But Demi, who has tackled her own problems with depression and addiction in the public eye, described the 38-year-old as her 'idol'.
She said kindly: "You were like the first idol that I ever had.
"I wouldn't be the artist or even the person that I am - being so outspoken and vulnerable and fearless - if I hadn't had you to look up to. So I thank you for that.
"You are fearless and courageous and real as ... and I love that about you. When I was younger I thought to myself if I make it I wanna be like her because she's real and she's genuine."
Thanking Demi for her sweet words, Kelly admitted: "The thing about it though, even though you're saying 'you're strong, you're courageous', but I'm not all the time - it takes work.
"I think people look at us and even when you overcome something they're like 'she's overcome that', no, no, no, that's a daily effort in trying to stay positive, it's not just a given that you went to some magical therapy session and you're over it."
Kelly added: "I think that it's a daily thing that you work at and I work at.
"Thank you for the compliments but I it's not easy to have the spotlight on you and arrows being aimed at you - especially when you are vulnerable and you give people more ammo for all the trolls out there."
Earlier this week Kelly broke down in tears as a Black Lives Matter protestor shared an emotional story about her dad.
The host had to pause and take a moment when the topic of fatherhood came up while filming a segment for The Kelly Clarkson show on Tuesday.
Kelly spoke with guest Samantha Francine - who’s picture standing up to an angry critic at a Montana Black Lives Matter protest went viral.
Kelly has been open in the past about her troubled relationship with her estranged father, Stephen, who died in 2019.
The Grammy winner said she had not had any communication with her dad in years due to their "unhealthy relationship."
On June 4, Kelly filed for divorce from her music manager husband, Brandon after seven years of marriage.
Sources close to the couple told : "Kelly and Brandon had been having problems for several months and had been making an effort to work things out."
