TALKING Heads' Harriet Walter has revealed her husband was told to cut her hair on a Zoom call by the show's make-up boss.
The 69-year-old is the latest star to deliver one of Alan Bennett's famous monologues, with Harriet performing Soldiering On.
Harriet plays a widow who is left looking after her mentally ill daughter, and speaking to , Harriet revealed she had to do all her preparation for the role in lockdown.
As well as rehearsing with the director via a Zoom call, Harriet also had to have her hair cut for the role under the direction of the show's make-up designer.
She said: "My husband even cut my hair with Zoom instructions from the make-up designer – luckily he’s a perfectionist and did quite a good job."
As for rehearsals, she added: "The director Marianne Elliott and I rehearsed on Zoom, so we got to know each other’s bathrooms and sitting rooms in search of a good signal."
When it came to filming her episode, Harriet and the crew maintained social distancing.
She explained: "It all culminated in one day at the studio. We brought our own coffee, mug, water bottle and hand sanitiser.
"When we had breaks we sat 6ft apart. It reminded us all of being in an exam room."
Earlier this week, former Coronation Street star Sarah Lancashire performed a new monologue about a mother who developed incestuous feelings towards her teenage son.

However, viewers were left freaked out by her 'creepy' character, with one writing on Twitter: "#TalkingHeads the #sarahlancashire one is making me feel very uncomfortable, I've got a 15 year old son! Creepy…”
“Sarah Lancashire is stressing me out with this performance….God, she's good #TalkingHeads,” penned a second.
A third added: "Sarah Lancashire was shocking, disturbing, dark and excellently executed! Bravo!"
