Mel B reveals she was bombarded with racist hate mail when she bought a house in Buckinghamshire
MEL B has revealed the vile racism she suffered at the height of her Spice Girls fame.
After buying a listed building in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, she was bombarded with racist hate mail.
Mel said: “The fact I bought it disturbed the whole village. I got not just hate mail but racist hate mail, which was shocking to me.
“It said, ‘Get out of this village, you don’t belong, you can’t buy something like this . . .’
“It disturbed me but I still threw some great parties there – really loud to disturb the village.”
She added: “I think there’s been a massive change when it comes to race and culture because we are a little bit more educated. Some countries are still way behind.”
More than a dozen letters were sent when Mel B first moved into the village in 1998.
That year, she married dancer Jimmy Gulzar in the 12th-century church next to her mansion home.
Residents told the Bucks Free Press in 2000 that they were "surprised" to hear of the hate mail.
"We are very surprised and shocked that something like this can come into our village," one resident said.
"Certainly, this issue has never come into our lives and this is the first time we have heard of these kind of problems in Little Marlow.'
Meanwhile, the Spice Girls could be back for another reunion tour after the success of last year’s concerts.
It’s believed the girl power gang – Emma Bunton, Mel B, Mel C, and Geri Horner – want to take their show around the world.
Back in March, Mel B admitted she thought the last tour was too short, saying in a live stream: "I think 13 shows was too short, even though we did not set out to do more than one. I hope we do more."
The last tour, which included three Wembley dates, took place without original member Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, but were still well received.
In an interview with , Emma, 44, has revealed she and the band are in talks to do more live gigs and it’s their “dream” to do more international shows.
The mum-of-two told the publication that they’re hoping to return to the stage once lockdown is over and she's been in regular contact with Ginger Spice, 47, to discuss future plans.
