Eamonn Holmes ignores Celebrity Gogglebox drama as he returns after bosses apologised for ‘cruel’ editing
EAMONN Holmes returned to Celebrity Gogglebox on Friday night after slamming the show's "atrocious" editing.
The This Morning presenter had blasted the show last week for not airing the emotional scene where he discussed his dad's death.
But Eamonn, 60, ignored the controversy last night as he urged viewers to tune in and watch him and wife, Ruth Langsford, on Gogglebox.
The couple - who married in 2010 - were seen reacting to a slew of shows, including a repeat of the 1996 World Cup Final.
Just minutes into the pre-filmed show, Eamonn tweeted: "Get the snacks... Gogglebox is on!'
Viewers had feared he might boycott the show this week after the drama and were relieved to see him back.
One fan wrote: "I was worried that you would stop participating in Gogglebox. Just seen my fave couple... made my Friday night... double dose today."
Another added: "No drama please. No edits."
A third viewer posted: "Fingers crossed for a better edit."
Eamonn slammed Gogglebox's "idiotic and cruel" edit of him last week for showing him telling a funny story instead of discussing his father's death.
The presenter said he was "hurt beyond belief" that he was made to look like he was having a laugh after watching a child resuscitate his dad who was having a heart attack BBC's Ambulance.
Eamonn wrote on Twitter: "In reply to a number of complaints ....I am hurt beyond belief that @C4Gogglebox chose not to use me talking about my Father dying from a Heart Attack at the side of a road and replace it with a funny story following a young lad giving his Father CPR . Idiotic and cruel edit.
"So following a tragedy that has forever haunted my family, I am in no mood for criticising holier than thou mouthpieces on here who haven't gone through what we did. I had nothing but praise and emotion for the Ambulance control room TV programme. An atrocious edit @StudioLambert.
"How my Father died was a particularly horrible experience for my Mother, my younger brother and his friend who were all in the car.
"The resuscitation in The BBC Ambulance programme was as close as could be to my Dad's passing. Yet I am the one edited to make it look like a laugh."
A fan replied: "I hope @C4Gogglebox apologises to you, your mum and family for heartlessly using a joke for such a sensitive and personal subject xx."
"So do I," said Eamonn.
Channel 4 later issued an apology to Eamonn and pulled the episode from its catch-up service.
The presenter announced last week that he has accepted the apology and put the incident to bed.
He wrote on Instagram: "After last night's clumsy edit which led to a huge amount of distress and outrage to viewers, myself and my family....
"Thank you @c4gogglebox, We move on and look forward to making fun TV."
