13 Reasons Why’s Winston actor lifts lid on bittersweet romance with Monty that Netflix fans never got to see
A STAR of 13 reasons Why has admitted he wished the audience got to see more of his character Winston Williams’ romance with Monty de la Cruz.
Deaken Bluman played Winston, who spent the whole fourth season of the Netflix teen drama series trying to expose the truth about Bryce Walker’s murder to posthumously exonerate his lover.
“Like, them jumping in the car and going to Palm Springs for the weekend, listening to great music and getting to know each other and really falling in love.
“It wasn’t just a one-night stand. They had a lot of love and a lot of fun together.
“People didn’t get to see that, but hopefully they felt that.”
Popular American Football jock Monty (played by Timothy Granaderos) was killed in prison during season 3.
He was banged up after assaulting Tyler Downs (Devin Druid) with a broom at the end of season 2.
However, when word spread around the prison that Monty was a “child rapist”, he was targeted and murdered as a result, as people also tried to pin the Bryce (Justin Prentice) murder on him.

In seeking the truth of Bryce’s killing, Winston needed closure, Bluman claimed, which came via Alex Standall’s (Miles Heizer) confession in the series finale.
Bluman said: “He didn’t get what he wanted, but he got what he needed.”
Despite the closure, however, Winston’s ending was not happy, which upset Bluman.
Admitting his character was left with unrequited feelings for Alex on top of his pre-existing grief, he revealed: “What made me sad was that he ended up alone.
“That’s the danger of searching for the truth. It’s not necessarily going to make you stronger.
“In fact, it’s probably going to break you a little.”
A Netflix spokesperson told that the fourth series of 13 Reasons Why is the last, stressing that the story will come to a “natural conclusion”.
