FANS of 13 Reason Why are gearing up for the release of the fourth and final season.

The show has been running since 2017 and has often left viewers wondering where it is filmed.

Netflix's 13 Reasons Why is filmed in California

Where is Netflix's 13 Reasons Why filmed?

13 Reasons Why is set in the fictional town of Crestmont, however filming took place in San Francisco’s Bay Area in Calafornia, with many of the main scenes taking place in and around Vallejo

In the series, the town name is never specifically mentioned because the show is not supposed to be set in a specific time or place to make the issues the teens face more timeless and relatable.

We take you through which locations were used for all four series of the hit Netflix show.

Analy High School

Most of 13 Reasons Why’s action takes place at the fictional Liberty High School.

In real life, the school that was used for filming was Analy High School in Sebastopol, California.

When the school wasn’t available for filming, the crew had to build a replica of the hallways and classrooms in a nearby warehouse.

The Baker's drug store

Hannah’s parents own a drug store in season 1, it’s where we see most of the interaction with her parents.

It is also where she gets her famous audio tapes from to record her '13 reasons why' she killed herself.

The store also appears in season 2, but not again after that as it closes down.

The shop used for filing is actually a real drug store and can be found on 435 Georgia Street in Vallejo, California.

Monet's

Monet’s is the coffee shop where all the students hang out at and is a real place.

It first appeared in season 1 as a place for the teens to meet up.

In season 3 it was where Justin worked.

The Cresmont Movie Theatre

The cinema plays an important part in season 1 as it where Hannah and Clay meet.

By season 3 we see Jessica working at the venue and Tyler hangs out there after his rape ordeal.

The filming location isn’t actually cinema, it’s an empty shop.

The building is at 333 Georgia Street, Vallejo, California.

Clay's house

The exterior shots for Clay’s house were filmed at 231 Bayview Street in San Rafael.

By season 3 however, we see less of the house as Clay as has moved into an outhouse with Justin.

Liberty High gym

This wasn't filmed at Analy High School.

The real set was a former gym and bowling alley which was used in the 40s and 50s.

It had to be cleaned and remodelled to become the school gym we see in the show and then got another makeover when it housed the Winter Formal Dance in season 1.

The centre is in the Mare Island area of Vallejo, but it used to be used as a Naval Shipyard too.

When is 13 Reasons Why season 4 out on Netflix?

Good news for fans, you don't have to wait too long until the new series drops.

It will be released at 8am THIS FRIDAY (June 5, 2020).
