He was quizzed after claiming Boris Johnson's top aide Dominic Cummings had caused people to abandon lockdown rules after he travelled from London to Durham with his wife, who had coronavirus, and their son.
The journalist wrote: "One thing’s for sure.. the Govt’s no longer ‘following the science’ & the British people are no longer (post Cummings) following the rules."
It prompted a follower to ask: "How was your visit to see mummy & daddy last week?"
Piers dismissed the accusation, replying: "Haven't seen my parents since March 14, because the rules still state I can't overnight at my Sussex home & unlike Dominic Cummings, I've abided by the rules."
Government rules state that people cannot visit friends and family inside their homes or "stay overnight away from your own home, except for in a limited set of circumstances, such as for work purposes."
Last week Piers shared a rare snap with lookalike dad Glynne and joked that he looks younger than him.
The 55-year-old wished his dad a happy birthday on a sunny Bank Holiday Weekend in lockdown.

"Instead, we’ll have to settle for a Zoom chat later..."
He added "c’est la nouvelle vie", which translates into "this is the new life".
Fans were surprised by Glynne's youthful good looks.
