Michelle Keegan insists Brassic season 3 will kick off ‘as soon as possible’ after lockdown delays filming
MICHELLE Keegan has delighted Brassic fans telling them filming for season three of the hit series will start filming "ASAP".
The 32-year-old actress replied to one of her fans on Instagram who gushed about the show, saying she hoped there would be a season three.
The former Our Girl star replied: "Yes there is... hopefully start filming ASAP," followed by a kissing face emoji.
Michelle stars alongside Joe Gilgun, Damien Molony and Ryan Sampson in Brassic, a comedy drama about crime, gangsters and friendship.
Brassic was inspired by Joseph's upbringing in Chorley.
Season three of Brassic was confirmed before season two had even aired on Sky One.
It was hoped that series 3 would be ready for 2021 as filming is currently scheduled for August, but due to the coronavirus pandemic there may be delays.
Even if filming can still happen in August, social distancing measures will be problematic for the cast and crew.
Co-creator Danny Brocklehurst to BT.com: "Filming is supposed to be this August, so theoretically it could still happen, but realistically it will encounter some sort of delay.
"Sky keep saying ‘progress as if’ but I think that’s optimistic.
"There’s really no point making predictions.
"It takes about 40 or 50 people to make a TV show, some of whom need to be close together, some of whom might be hugging or kissing, and you can’t really film the show with masks on".
Michelle was keen to get back to work after confirming she would not replace Holly Willoughby on Celebrity Juice because she wanted to focus on her acting career.
The former Coronation Street star also slammed the portrayal of working-class mums on TV as "gloomy and hard done by".
She plays single mum Erin on Brassic, and wanted to make sure she came across in a different way to how other working class mothers do on the small screen.
Speaking to the PlotTwist podcast, Michelle explained: "I knew she was going to be a really strong female and I wanted her to be an empowering character.

"A lot of the time you see working class mum's portrayed in a dark way or a gloomy way and hard done by but Erin doesn't feel like that.
"She's ambitious, she's the mother hen of the group and I knew that's how I wanted her to be portrayed, in a positive way not a negative way."
The star added that she likes how, despite being a comedy, there are moments that can really pull on a viewers' heartstrings.
She continued: "I think that's why it works, people can relate to it, it's real life, it's not all sunshine and rainbows there is darker moments.
"It felt real, I could relate to the script, I wanted to do a comedy and remember laughing out loud when I got the scripts."
