Surprisingly, the trailer showed featured the disgraced Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice), who was killed during season three after it emerged that he raped Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) and Jessica Davis (Alisha Boe).
Showrunner Brian Yorkey is adamant that this truly is the final series of 13 Reasons Why, because ending it is his idea.
He told "Somewhere in the midst of making season two, when it became clear that we might have the chance to make more seasons of this, I pretty quickly got to a place where it felt like a four-season story," he said previously in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"I’m always a little bit suspicious of high school shows that go beyond four seasons because high school is four years long.
He added: "It felt like bringing these characters to their graduation and to scattering to their next things felt like the logical ending point."
At the beginning of the trailer, the gang was horrified to see the words 'MONTY WAS FRAMED' painted on the doors inside the now infamous Liberty High School.
Monty de la Cruz (Timothy Granaderos), who was a friend of Bryce's, was framed for the murder serial rapist.
He was then murdered in prison and a student Winston Williams (Deaken Bluman) who hooked up with the bully in series 3, is determined to find out the truth behind who really killed Bryce, which turned out to be Alex Standall (Miles Heizer).
Will Winston get to the bottom and clear Monty's name of murder? Or Klay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) and the gang find a way to keep everyone out of trouble?

If fans were hoping for a new story following the characters after they leave high school, they are going to be disappointed as showrunner Brian ruled out any kind of spin off.
He said: "I'd be very interested to see how some of these characters do at college but I love the idea also of leaving that up to all of our imaginations."
The series is based off to the book of the same name by Jay Asher, which was originally released in 2007.
13 Reasons Why returns to Netflix on June 5. Seasons 1-3 are available to watch now.
