Coronation Street’s Carla Connor actress Alison King forced to cancel her lavish Greek wedding to toyboy David Stuckey
LIKE something from a Coronation Street storyline, soap star Alison King has seen her wedding plans turn to disaster.
Alison, who plays Weatherfield’s Carla Connor, has been forced to cancel the bash in Greece next week.
Unlike most soap stories, it had nothing to do with the groom playing away from home or the bride confessing her love for the best man.
Instead, Alison joins countless disappointed couples in being thwarted by the coronavirus crisis.
A TV insider said: “Alison and her future hubby were hoping there was some way they could make the wedding work despite all the restrictions.
“But in the end they ran out of options.
“They hoped lockdown might lift enough to let them tie the knot but it proved too much of a logistical nightmare.
“The irony of it being like a Corrie plotline isn’t lost on them.
“They are trying to remain philosophical about the whole thing.”
Alison has been dating toyboy fiance David Stuckey since 2018, after they were set up by their personal trainer.
It wasn’t long before the IT salesman moved in with Alison — who is nine years his senior — and her daughter from a previous relationship.
David, who is father to two boys, popped the question a few days after their one-year anniversary on a romantic trip to Portugal.
It is thought Alison picked Greece for the wedding as it is one of her favourite holiday destinations.
Perhaps once the lockdown is lifted, the Rovers Return could host their do.

The couple formed the Direct Action Network, which led the campaign for reform to our disability laws.
Written by Bafta winner Jack Thorne, the drama – which is currently titled Independence Day? How Disabled Rights Were Won – will mark the 25th anniversary of the Disability Discrimination Act.
Jack said: “They have never been properly celebrated.
