Ex EastEnders boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins rushed to hospital after soap’s Bafta falls on his head and knocks him out
EX EastEnders boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins was rushed to hospital after a Bafta from his time on the soap fell on his head.
The 42-year-old TV producer was left unconscious when the bronze mask, which has a marble base, fell from a cupboard.
The award weighs 3.7kg, and was left with a large chip on its nose after the accident.
Taking to his Instagram Story, Dominic shared a close-up photo of the accolade and wrote: "So.. This (note the newly chipped nose).. Fell off the top of a cupboard and onto my head."
The telly guru shared a photo of himself with a large bandage on his forehead followed by a snap of himself in hospital with a medical mask around his mouth and nose.
He continued: "3.5kg of bronze. A lot of blood and then I passed out.
"Ambulanced to A&E."
In a second photo of the award, he quipped: "Think Bafta came off worse... Drama."
The Bafta's plaque can clearly be seen in the final image, confirming that it was given to Dominic in May 2016 - when EastEnders won the Soap and Continuing Drama award under his helm.
Dominic first started working on EastEnders as a senior story editor in 2005, creating iconic characters Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell.
He was also responsible for some of the BBC One soap's most iconic storylines, including Syed and Christian's affair, and Who Killed Archie Mitchell? before stepping down in 2010.
Three years later, Dominic returned to Walford and replaced Lorraine Newman as executive producer, quickly introducing the Carter family and casting Danny Dyer as Mick, the new landlord of the Queen Vic.
He quit the soap for a second time in 2016 - and was close to tears as he accepted the soap's Bafta just days after he left.
