Geordie Shore’s Abbie Holborn reveals she’s going bald due to stress of cruel trolls branding her ‘fish eyes’
GEORDIE Shore's Abbie Holborn has revealed she's going bald over the stress of cruel trolls branding her "fish eyes".
The 22-year-old was left with huge bald patches all over her head after the abuse took its toll.
Abbie told The Sun Online: "Since school, I’ve always had a hard time with the bullies. I’d get called ‘fish eyes’ and jeered about my weight.
"When I first got on to Geordie Shore after auditioning, I honestly thought I’d left those days behind me – but I was wrong.
"After having a boob job when I was 18, I’d put up with the online slurs and insults thinking I was okay with it and could look past the hate – but really, it was churning me up inside."
After watching Little Mix star Jesy Nelson’s documentary she realised she was being controlled by online bullies.
"I started to get thinner, and not just in weight. I noticed my hair was coming out in clumps too," said Abbie.
"Then one night, I was looking in the mirror and gasped. I had huge bald patches all over my head.’
"I knew it wasn’t from hair extensions because I hadn’t been wearing them at that time – it must be a form of the condition Alopecia that affected Gail Porter."
Hair Loss Causes
STRESSS can trigger a reaction in your body that causes your hair to shed faster.
Both physical and emotional stress can cause the hair to thin or even fall out.
The hair has a shedding cycle - a growth phase, rest phase and shedding phase.
It's normal to lose a certain amount of hair every day, but when you are stressed the shedding phase is sped up so your hair can appear thinner than usual.
The good news is, your hair will return to normal when you are less stressed out.
