American Horror Story promises ‘crazy, erotic sex scene’ between Macaualy Culkin and Kathy Bates in season 10

MACAULAY Culkin will have a “crazy, erotic” sex scene in American Horror Story – in a role which the famous actor boasted he was “born to play.”

The former squeaky clean child star of Home Alone, now 39, will join the award-winning FX show’s tenth season later this year.

When casting Culkin for the role on the beloved anthology series, creator Ryan Murphy warned he would have to get racy with his Oscar-winning co-star Kathy Bates, who is 71.

But Murphy revealed Culkin didn’t flinch – and is actually relishing the scenes with Bates, who has played a host of characters throughout the series.

Teasing Culkin’s “very, very great,insane part”, Murphy told : [When] I cast, I never let people read things, usually. I said, ‘OK, here’s the pitch.’ 

“And I told [him] the character and I told him he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things.

“And he paused, and he goes, ‘This sounds like the role I was born to play.’ So, he signed up right then and there.”

American Horror Story season 10 is yet to be given an official title.

But Murphy has warned it will need a brand-new theme or face delays of an entire year.

The show features a different premise each season, and the next instalment had been rumoured to be ocean-related.

But since the coronavirus pandemic struck, filming has been delayed and Murphy admitted it could force him to change his approach entirely.

Speaking to The Wrap, he explained: "A lot of what I was going to shoot was dependent on a very specific moment, it was a weather-dependent show.

"So, now, I don't know. I don't know what we’re going to do.

"I don't know what I'm gonna do next with that show. I don't know if I'll accelerate another season or wait 'til next year to shoot this one."

Aside from Bates, season 10 will see a number of American Horror Story long-time collaborators return, including Sarah Poulson and Evan Peters.

American Horror Story season nine is available on Now TV, while seasons 1-8 are streaming now on Netflix.
