BALLS ON GOGGLEBOX

Radio DJ Zoe Ball set to star on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside son Woody

SHE’S been a big fan of Gogglebox ever since it started in 2013, and now Zoe Ball can show off her own sofa on the series.

I can reveal the Radio 2 DJ will be taking her seat on the celeb version of the C4 show alongside son Woody later this year.

A TV insider said: “Zoe is a huge fan of Gogglebox and has been watching the show for seven years. She’s the perfect fit and will be teaming up with her eldest son Woody to give her opinion on the week’s telly.

“Zoe leapt at the chance when she was asked to join the line-up and will be filming the next instalment of the show. It’s scheduled to begin later this year.

“With the ongoing lockdown, the dates are still very much up in the air but producers are hoping they can go ahead by adhering with social distancing.”

Zoe and Woody, who appeared in C4’s The Circle, will be joined by TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal and his mum Linda, who I have been told signed up for another outing after appearing in the series last year.

Martin Kemp and son Roman have also agreed to return after they proved popular with viewers.

While fans wait for the next installment, they can get their fix with Celebrity Gogglebox USA, which starts on E4 next Wednesday with singer Meghan Trainor and actor Rob Lowe.

The more Gogglebox the better, I say.

And welcome to the family, Zoe — I think you’ll make for some great TV.

Col Tom & Michael: You’ll Never Social Distance Alone

THEY duetted together on No1 single You’ll Never Walk Alone, but newly promoted Colonel Tom Moore never actually got to meet his fellow crooner Michael Ball.

On Wednesday night, however, a special documentary will see them brought together for the first time – with a little social distancing, of course.

And best of all, they’ll be enjoying another sing-song.

Hosted by Michael, Capt Tom: We Salute You – which airs at 7.30pm on BBC1 – follows the story of Tom’s bid to raise £1,000 for the NHS by walking 100 lengths of his garden.

The World War Two veteran’s feat made him an international sensation and helped him raise nearly £33million just before he reached his 100th birthday last week.

Colonel Tom’s daughter Hannah, as well as grandchildren Benji and Georgia, will also talk about being at the centre of a story that went around the world.

Fash: I'd tackle Strictly

AFTER leaving Channel 4’s Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins this week, John Fashanu wants to tackle the gruelling challenge that is Strictly Come Dancing.

The ex-Wimbledon striker and Gladiators host, said: “They have asked me to do it two or three times but when they did, I couldn’t do it.

“I think Strictly would be ideal because footballers tend to be natural dancers as well – that’s why so many footballers go to nightclubs.”

Ah yes, that’s why they go to nightclubs . . .

Sarah in rule row

BANCROFT actress Sarah Parish sparked complaints after giving a This Morning interview via Skype from her neighbour’s home.

Viewers accused Sarah, who also starred in W1A and Broadchurch, of flouting social isolation rules.

This Morning viewers complained that Sarah Parish broke lockdown rules by Skyping into the programme from her neighbour’s home

But she hit back on Twitter, explaining: “I was in my neighbour’s annex doing the This Morning interview, not their house.

“They don’t live in it and have kindly lent it to us while our internet is down.”

Justice for our Yasmeen

CORRIE viewers have watched in horror as Geoff Metcalfe avoids justice after abusing Yasmeen Nazir, both pictured, for months.

But Street bosses promise the villain will get his comeuppance for his coercive and controlling behaviour.

Soap chief Iain MacLeod said: “Typically abusers do not get better and it would possibly be a very dangerous message to impart to our audience and say, ‘These people can change.’ ”

He added: “I don’t want to give real abusers the opportunity to go, ‘Look, Geoff has turned his life around and I can do the same too.’ ”

Fans have seen the baddie, played by Ian Bartholomew, restrict Yasmeen’s (Shelley King) movements and chip away at her self-worth until she snapped and attacked him with a broken bottle.

She now faces jail for attempted murder, but producers vow she won’t become a victim of the justice system or follow Deirdre Barlow and become another Weatherfield One.

Iain added: “Every one of us wants to see justice served and for her to ultimately be free to rebuild her life.”
