The Mandalorian director posts first look at Baby Yoda in Disney+ season 2 – gushing over ‘biggest star in the universe’

THE Mandalorian director has offered a first look at Baby Yoda ahead of the release of series two.

Despite the coronavirus forcing virtually all TV shows to stop filming, but the latest show in the Star Wars franchise is still on track to release the next installment on Disney+ this October.

Director Robert Rodriguez took to Twitter to post the snap of the adorable character, who looks set to steal the show in the new series.

The 51-year-old captioned the pic: "I am truly humbled to say I have now had the very rare privilege of directing the biggest star in the universe. @StarWars #TheMandalorian #MayThe4th #StarWarsDay."

The filmmaker beamed as he posed alongside the tiny puppet, who had its wands on full display.

Fans were quick to comment and gushed over the cute character, while being floored by the long list of extraordinary directors confirmed for the project.

One fan exclaimed: "So for season 2 we have Robert Rodriguez, Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers and Peyton Reed conformed so far. Wow!"

Another fan chimed in: "WOW! AMAZING! Gonna be the best episode of season 2 for sure!"

A third fan added: "Hahaha awesome work mate, cant wait to see it!!!"

While a fourth fan wrote: "Ok, now you got me hyped. Awesome work and hopefully more to come."

The puppet won the hearts of many fans after making his debut in the first episode of season one.

It looks like he will be the star of the show once again when the series drops in a couple of months.

In the meantime, Disney+ have launched a docu-series about the making of The Mandalorian to keep fans happy before the release of the second season.

The launch of the popular show's second season is a long way off, so the streaming platform dropped the eight part behind the scenes series on Star Wars Day yesterday.
