Beckhams’ £10m loan to buy luxury Miami flat emerges days after Posh forced to U-turn on decision to furlough her staff
VICTORIA Beckham last week made a humiliating U-turn on her widely criticised decision to furlough 25 staff members.
Now we can reveal that late last year the fashion designer and her retired footballer hubby David, who are worth a staggering £335million, took out a £10million loan to buy their luxury Miami apartment.
It meant that the power couple were granted the cool eight-figure mortgage to snap up their sprawling £18million Florida penthouse. Last night, a source close to the star said: “Given the vast wealth of the mega-rich pair, it’s a bit rich of them to have taken out a loan.
“If they hadn’t borrowed cash to buy yet another pad, perhaps they wouldn’t have had to furlough staff in the first place.”
If Victoria could borrow £10million to buy a Miami bolthole, there are probably a few people thinking she could have borrowed money in the first place to pay her staff, rather than try and rely on the taxpayer.”
“Unquestionably, she and David lead an extravagant, no-expense-spared lifestyle. It’s just a shame she’s not as flush in matters of business. While they actually applied for this loan towards the end of last year, the timing of its publication could hardly have been worse.”
The couple used their firm, Beckham Brand Limited to take out the loan which they are paying at a fixed rate of 2.5 per cent for ten years. The Beckhams’ luxury new five-bed property comes complete with a helicopter landing pad, plus a communal swimming pool, spa, hair salon, juice bar and gym.
Handily, it’s a short journey from Inter Miami football club, which David now co-owns.
Victoria’s initial decision to put her staff on an “enhanced package” was met with condemnation from fans and celebs alike, with Piers Morgan branding her a “prima donna millionaire”.
Meanwhile, the family put their embarrassment aside yesterday as David celebrated his 45th birthday with a bacon butty made by son Cruz and a mountain of presents with personalised wrapping paper with Becks face on it. Sensibly, they left the, no-doubt lavish, contents off social media . . .
Lawrence is tweet on Maya
RETIRED rugby ace Lawrence Dallaglio went on an early-hours Twitter spree yesterday – gushing about presenter Maya Jama.
The married sports legend tweeted that rapper Stormzy‘s ex-girlfriend Maya – right, in a recent Instagram photo – was “gorgeous” in response to a snap of her in tight gym gear. But then he recycled the same compliment when liking a racy image of US glamour model Katie Bell in underwear.
Both comments were posted at around 4.30am, but just a few hours later it seems Lozza had a change of heart and deleted them. Lawrence later claimed that his Twitter account had been “compromised”.
It comes just two months after a London court heard how a credit card belonging to the star was used to make payments of £10,000 in a brothel. Maybe it’s time to move on to TikTok, Lawrence . . .
Business is booming for Maya
BUSINESS is booming for Maya, whose entertainment firm is now worth nearly £1million.
Latest results from Companies House show the Radio 1 DJ, model, and influencer’s business, MIJ & Co Entertainment Ltd, has more than £830,000 in the bank, up from £331,000 12 months ago, and is owed a further £160,000.
Maya is set to rake in loads more this year and is tipped for a stint on Strictly Come Dancing.
Rob on cue
ROBBIE Williams has defended his use of autocue on stage – by blaming his history of drug use. The pop star, now sober, uses the word prompter at gigs to jog his memory after years of over-indulgence have left it shaky.
Rob explained: “Now if you were in a stadium full of people and you had done drugs in your life, your brain is not going to be working properly.”
“And the last thing you want to do when you are staring at 80,000 people is go, ‘Yep I do not remember these words’. That’s why I got an autocue, because I suffer with anxiety and it is a high-pressure scenario.”

Roxy beat bullies
JACK Whitehall‘s new girlfriend Roxy Horner might be a world-class model now, but she was once bullied because of her unusual looks.
The Essex-born beauty, who has been linked to Leonardo DiCaprio and Joey Essex, was picked on at school over her appearance.
She said: “I used to get called ‘Frog Eyes’ because my eyes are far apart and ‘Big Nose’, so I used to think I was ugly.”

LITTLE Mix are not letting isolation slow them down. Jade Thirlwall has been hitting up A-List dating app Raya to meet guys remotely during isolation.
I hear the London-based singer has been keeping her options open and matching with some eligible bachelors. Speaking this week, single Jade, left, admitted she wanted to take life a little easier after lockdown.
She said: “We never get scheduled time off where we can go and do things and now I’ve got myself into a bit of a routine of being indoors and at home. It’s done a lot of good. That uncertainty that I usually have day-to-day has disappeared so it’s quite nice.”

Holden out for a rainbow
BRITAIN’S Got Talent judge Amanda Holden says her boss Simon Cowell had to fight with ITV to keep the show on air during the pandemic.
Amanda, whose debut single Over The Rainbow is in support of NHS Charities Together, said: “Britain’s Got Talent is a bit of a lifesaver on a Saturday. ”
“It’s something you’d do anyway, sitting down with your family. If you’re not with everyone you love you can still watch it on Zoom or talk about it.”

Quarantine Queen
IS BBC1 show The Greatest Dancer may have been axed, but US judge Todrick Hall still plans on spending more time this side of the pond after falling in love while filming in London.
The performer, who has created a new EP Quarantine Queen during lockdown in Los Angeles, said: “I met a special guy when I was in the UK. He stole my heart and we’ve been talking so much on the phone during quarantine.”
“It’s on the top of my list to fly back as soon as we can. I met him at the gym, I thought he was going to tell me off for doing the splits, but he wanted to hang out. He is so sweet and supportive.”
The singer added: “I’m looking for my Prince Charming. I don’t want a boyfriend, I want a husband.” Go get him, Todrick . . .

TikTok biggest earners
IT’S already one of the planet’s most down- loaded apps. But now, thanks to lockdown, TikTok has become one of the most lucrative ways for stars to earn money while stuck indoors.
With more than 1.6billion users globally, the Chinese-owned social media platform allows users to create short music-based videos and has exploded in the UK over the past six weeks.
Millions of bored Brits have swapped visits to the pub for scrolling through a seemingly endless stream of bizarre memes, jokes and lip-sync dance routines. And stars including Gordon Ramsay, Jacqueline Jossa and Ed Sheeran are cashing in.

HRVY: Sitting at No1 in the TikTok ”rich list”, is the singer and ex-CBBC presenter, who can earn £13,200 a post thanks to his 3.4million followers and 50.7million likes.
GORDON RAMSAY: After popping up on his daughters’ TikTok pages, the chef recently launched his own account and rapidly amassed 1.9million followers and 5.1million likes. At No3, he can make £7,250 a post.
DUA LIPA: The New Rules singer, who is worth £2.5million, has a huge 1.8million- strong following and 970,000 likes, which would earn her a potential £6,400 for each post and puts her at the No5 spot in the TikTok rich ist.
JACQUELINE JOSSA: Last year’s I’m A Celeb winner and former EastEnders actress ranks at No8 on the list with one million followers and 3.1million likes, and can earn up to a £4,000 a post.
ED SHEERAN: Despite being Britain’s wealthiest celeb under the age of 30, worth £170million, Ed sits at No10. The singer has 927,000 followers and 1.4million likes, and potential to earn up to £3,730 a post.
Jamie’s new roll
CELEBRITIES love getting freebies and The Rolling Stones are no exception, according to Ronnie Wood‘s son. Despite the rock legends being worth an estimated £760million, Jamie Wood claims they are really tight with their money.
Their ex-roadie, who has also worked with Guns n’Roses, has now launched Woodies, a cannabis oil company, but reckons Keith Richards still owes him for a product. Jamie said: “I’ll 100 per cent send my packages to them all, but rock stars always want everything for free.”
“Keith owes me some money for some CBD oil. Dad is tight too. When I was 15 years old, I asked him for money to go to a rave, and he only gave me a tenner, which wouldn’t even pay for the cab.”
Ronnie, who is a recovering drug and alcohol addict, was less than pleased about his son’s business venture. Jamie added: “I sent some CBD oil to my old man, but he is negative, we had a row. It makes sense. Dad’s in Alcoholics Anonymous now. He was in the toilet for most of the 80s. I didn’t see him much.”
