COUNTDOWN'S Rachel Riley spelt out the word "EROTIC" on the teatime show show today - and struggled to keep a straight face.
The 34-year-old maths whizz was seen stifling a laugh as host Nick Hewer and human dictionary Susie Dent went all grown-up and pretended there wasn't a raunchy word on the board.
One contestant today came up with the six-letter answer "EROTIC" after being given the letters C, R, O, I, L, T, A, L and E to make a word out of.
That won him the points after Susie ruled his opponent's answer, of "COLLATER", was an incorrect spelling.
Fans of the show, who rarely miss an opportunity to point out a rude word when it crops up, took to Twitter with one writing: "Lesbian and erotic on today’s count down, what a day to tune in!"
However, some fans pointed out the player could have gone one better and bagged a seven-letter word.
One fan tweeted: "I am mainly annoyed that the player missed EROTICA btw."
Last year Countdown was forced to blur out the word “w***ers” after it appeared on the board – leaving Rachel in hysterics.
The quiz show previously took an awkward turn after an embarrassed-looking Rachel assembled the words 'c*m budgie' on the famous board.
Other previous rude words on the show include a**e', 'clit', 'shags', 'no panties', 'vaginas', 'm***e', 'todgers', 'noshed', 'teabags', 't**t' and 'OK I squirt'.
