Where is The Last Kingdom season 5 filmed? Filming locations for the Netflix drama
THE Last Kingdom is back for an epic season 5, much to the delight of fans
But some of the show's followers may be wondering where the series is filmed.
Where is The Last Kingdom season five filmed?
Season 5 of The Last Kingdom is set in the ninth century when England is split into seven areas, such as Wessex, Mercia and Northumbria.
Although the show reflects medieval Britain, much of the series was filmed in on location in Hungary.
It features sets designed to resemble the fallen cities, camps and battlefields.
The show's production manager, Dominic Hyman, said: "In Hungary we show a great breadth of Anglo-Saxon England, everything from the flats of East Anglia to the rugged hills of Northumberland, you will get a real sense of everything.”
Göböljárás
The village of Göböljárás sits just outside the Hungarian capital, Budapest.
It was used to partly recreate Winchester Palace, Sussex, in the series.
Production manager Hyman said: "Göböljárás is a very beautiful location."

Bamburgh Castle
Bamburgh Castle, situated on the Northumberland coast, was one of a few places in the UK used in the show.
It represents Uhtred’s family home of Bebbanburg.

The castle has stood guard above the Northumberland coastline for over 1,400 years.
It was home to a succession of kings from Henry VI to James I, and was the first castle in the world to fall to gunpowder in the War of the Roses.
Lake Velence
Lake Velence is the third largest natural lake in Hungary.
Because of the sunny climate of the area and the shallowness of the lake, it is one of the warmest lakes in Europe.
The waterside location was used to depict the Mercian town of Cocchum, now Cookham, in the series.
Esztergom
The royal city of Esztergom is the place where St Stephen, the first King of Hungary, was crowned at the start of the 11th century.
Esztergom castle is a combination of Medieval and Renaissance architecture, a lot of which had been lost for hundreds of years until archaeological digs began in the 20th century.
The Esztergom Hills, north of Budapest, were used to represent rural Wales on the show.
Battlegrounds
Various locations were used for the battle scenes in The Last Kingdom.
These include a hill near the village of Páty, which sits just west of Budapest.
Another battle was filmed at Göböljárás, the same place where Winchester Palace was depicted.
A third battle scene was shot near the village of Szárliget, which is also west of Budapest.
