James and Ola Jordan’s newborn baby Ella rushed to hospital after struggling to breathe

JAMES and Ola Jordan’s newborn daughter was rushed to hospital after she struggled to breathe.

The former Strictly Come Dancing stars were forced to take Ella to A&E after she appeared to choke on her own saliva.

While James and Ola were hesitant to go to the hospital due to the pandemic, they rushed there after speaking to 111.

“She hasn’t slept for the last couple of days,” James wrote in their magazine column.

“She’s been really unsettled, really miserable. Moving a lot, kicking her legs and flailing her arms and struggling to clear her mouth.

“She had a lot of saliva in her mouth and it was almost like she couldn’t swallow properly. It was like she was choking on her own saliva.”

They spoke to Ola’s sister who is a pharmacist as well as a family friend with small children – both advised them to ring the NHS helpline.

James continued: “We called 111 and told them what was going on and they sent an ambulance out. Then the paramedics said, ‘Right, we’ll take her in and get someone to look at her.’

“They took her into hospital and a paediatrician saw her very quickly.”

The blood tests revealed the baby had a bad case of reflux, which was treated with some anti-reflux medication.

Reflux is a common illness where a baby can’t keep their milk down shortly after feeding.

The pair welcomed Ella in February after a three-year IVF battle.

The couple announced the birth of their baby on Instagram, telling fans they were the “happiest” parents in the world.

Ola wrote alongside her photo: “She’s here and she is perfect.”

While James shared the same picture of their baby’s tiny hand and gushed: “I’m the happiest man in the world.”
