'Dream come true'

MasterChef final winner 2020 is banker Thomas Frake but viewers aren’t happy after he undercooked pastry

BANKER Thomas Frake has won this year’s MasterChef final - but some viewers were unhappy after he undercooked his dessert pastry.

The 32-year-old, who lives with his girlfriend in Tooting, South West London, beat fellow finalists David Rickett, 31, and Sandy Tang, 24, to the prize.

However, while viewers praised his delicious menu, they also felt the pastry error was glossed over.

One wrote on Twitter: "No no....... Masterchef wins with under cooked pastry .....??... Dish of the day was Sandys desert ...... standards have dropped...... #MasterChef."

Another wrote: "MasterChef winner and can’t cook pastry ..... what’s going on here ????."

A third asked: "#MasterChef His pastry wasn't even cooked..how can he win??! Sandy deserved it."

After being crowned winner, Thomas said: “Honestly, it’s a dream come true. It’s been immense and the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.

"I can’t see me not working in food for the rest of my life.

“Further down the line, I would one day love to own a gastropub. Maybe a classic East End boozer or a picturesque country pub.

"But for now, I want to really build on my experience and develop into a chef.”
