Speaking on the ITV chatshow during a special edition of the show, the 41-year-old had to ask Stacey Solomon to take over as she regained her composure.

The brunette spoke of her friend Rachel, who works for the NHS in intensive care at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, Northern Ireland.

She said of her particular NHS hero: "This is the moment I would absolutely like to give out every bit of love I possibly can to my sister's best friend.

"I've known her since she was a little girl.

"This is a young girl, same age as my sister in her late 30s. She's a daughter, wife, mother of two young boys and there she is going to work every day."

Christine continued: "It gets me emotional thinking about it as they're putting their lives at risk all the time for us.

"I just get so emotional event time I think about it. I find it so difficult to think they have to worry about their little children and yet all I have to do is stay inside my house and it just puts it all into perspective.

"I told her I wasn’t going to cry today, take over Stacey."

As her fellow hosts also became teary and gave her virtual hugs, Stacey admitted: "I don't know if I'm equipped to take over, Christine."
