Chris Hughes is convinced Jesy Nelson still loves him and has insisted they’re just ‘on a break’
WHEN Jesy Nelson dumped Chris Hughes a few days ago, it was a huge surprise given they had been talking marriage just weeks earlier.
But it seems former Love Island contestant Chris is not ruling out buying a wedding suit any time soon.
After the Little Mix singer gave him the boot over the phone last week, he told pals he is certain they will get back together once lockdown ends.
An insider said: “Chris is absolutely convinced that he is going to be getting back with Jesy just as soon as isolation ends and they can be together again.
“As far as he is concerned, this split is just temporary and actually it’s more of a break than a break-up.
“Chris is still madly in love with Jesy and is convinced she’s just struggling with being apart from him.
“This situation is stressful for everyone and nothing is normal. There is nothing more Chris wants than to see Jesy face-to-face, but he knows he has to wait until this is over.
“Chris is confident they’ll be a couple again in no time and is planning on doing everything in his power to win Jesy back over.
“Jesy's pals say she's as keen to reunite when this is over to talk things over too. They make a lovely couple and seemed so happy.”
The pair, who had been dating for 16 months, were inseparable and had even discussed settling down and moving in together.
But their romance hit the rocks just before Easter, with pals insisting the couple had split amicably and were planning on remaining good friends.
If Chris gets his way, it sounds like it’s going to be far more than that.

RUNNING off with everyone’s credit cards wouldn’t normally encourage your fellow diners to pay the bill.
But Jonathan Ross isn’t trying to dine and dash – he’s actually having a staged tantrum at his fellow guests after they refused to vote for him to be free from splashing the cash.
The chat show host was eating with Mark Wright, Gabby Logan, Anita Rani and Rachel Paris for I’ll Get This.
The BBC2 series, which starts tonight at 10pm, sees celebs put their plastic on the table and play games between courses until just one card is left and the owner has to stump up.
Wossy’s card snatch came after pals refused to vote for him to not pay for dinner. He joked: “I’ve got all the cards, I’m going.”

Joey's SAS love therapy
JOEY ESSEX says building his mental resilience on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins has helped him deal with the heartbreak of splitting from girlfriend Lorena Medina and the isolation of the coronavirus lockdown.
Joey met Mexican model Lorena on MTV’s Ex On The Beach last year but the couple went their separate ways in February after being seen arguing at the National Television Awards a few weeks earlier.
Speaking about the C4 show, which returns on Monday, ex-Towie and I’m A Celeb star Joey said: “Being on my own at night – because I haven’t got a girlfriend at the minute – it’s 100 per cent helped.
“And I’ve lived on my own since I was 20, so nine years now. I would say it has helped prepare me for lockdown.
"It’s made me feel a bit more content by myself at the minute as I feel quite alone. This isn’t like a TV show, you don’t see nobody.”

Quiz set a poser
AFTER last night’s debut of ITV drama Quiz, viewers will tonight see the set of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? recreated as cheat Charles Ingram appears on the show.
The producers had to go all-out on a tight budget to nail the set’s glossy look.
Speaking on the Final Answer: Quiz Special podcast, which airs tonight at 9.30pm, production designer Stephen Campbell said: “The Hungarian Millionaire set was available between seasons, but it wasn’t free – and was just too problematic in the end.”

Sugar's show axe till 2021
HE normally spends weeks hiring and firing would-be business partners but Lord Sugar won’t be pointing his wrinkly finger at anyone until 2021 at the earliest.
He has confirmed BBC1’s The Apprentice has been postponed, with filming delayed until next year – as I revealed two weeks ago.
When asked on Twitter if the show had been postponed, Lord Sugar replied: “Yes, I guess so. Could be back in spring 2021 or skip a whole year and back in October 2021.”
Last year’s show came under fire with contestant Lottie Lion accused of racism.
A telly source has previously said: “The issue this year is not only lockdown but the fact that a lot of the filming was to be abroad, in Taiwan and the US.
“And Lord Sugar and his sidekick Claude Littner are both over 70, so they would be deemed at risk.”
After 15 series, Lord Sugar should enjoy the break.
