SAS: Who Dares Wins star Jason Fox calls for legalisation of drugs as they are ‘no different’ to alcohol and cigarettes
SAS hardman Jason Fox clearly picked up more than just a few contact highs on his travels through Latin America for his Channel 4 show Meet The Drug Lords.
The soldier-turned-telly star reckons he has cracked drugs policy — and thinks the UK Government should legalise the lot to cut crime.
Jason, who fought on the front line in the war on drugs while in the special forces, said they are “no different” to alcohol and cigarettes.
In an exclusive interview, he said: “We’re fighting it at the wrong level. We ploughed billions of pounds into the war on drugs through hardware, soldiers, yet it needs to be fought on a social level.
“We need to invest in those areas being exploited by cartels. Governments need to be looking after their own people so there’s no gap for organised crime to exploit.
“Part of me thinks it’s that futile, you should probably legalise the whole trade, control the substance and tax it.
“You’re not spending on the war, you’re earning money.
“You control it, you take away a revenue stream from an organised crime unit and you’ve got another industry.”
Foxy shot to fame on another of Channel 4’s shows, SAS: Who Dares Wins, alongside mouthy chief instructor Ant Middleton.
But his first brush with fame came just before then as he was the person who found a lump of silver believed to belong to legendary adventurer Captain Kidd.
Foxy was working in security for the History channel at a Madagascar dive site in May 2015. He and his cameraman pal were “so bored watching these guys dust mud away with toothbrushes.
“So we went and decimated the dive site but in the process I found this 55kg lump of silver.
“Everyone had kittens for 24 hours . . . then they couldn’t help but be happy as we’d found the lost silver of Captain Kidd.
